Even just a slight glazing with the palm of someone's hand as they pass by, and a wink of 'well done'?

I started smoking 12 years ago. I've had periods of stopping over the years, the longest period being 2 1/2 years upon falling pregnant with DC2, who is now 5. Since I (stupidly) restarted then, I hadn't even attempted to stop.

The kids have been hassling me to stop for a while. They made me promise to stop before a notable event we had planned.

So I did!

I've not touched a cigarette in five weeks! (well, am puffing on an e-cig at times, but not a real one!)

I want to sing it from the rooftops, but no-one else really gives a shit - even the kids, weirdly!

AIBU to come on Mumsnet looking for a 'well done' from you guys??

Whenever I am looking for things for which to be grateful, I think of the fact that I never started smoking because I am effing certain that I would never ever have been able to give it up. So bloody well done, you Fuckery

Well done!!! I started on the ecigs about 3 months ago, haven't had a cig since. At the very beginning dp and the kids congratulated me, but I think they think that that's the stopping stopped so don't seem to think its a big deal. But it is!!!! So well done me and well done you!!

(What ecig are you using??)

You are amazing! Your kids will grow up seeing you as a non smoker (I know as my mum gave up when we were little.) You will be healthier, wealthier and I hope happier.

Hmm. The weight? Never eat instead of smoking. Watch the snacking and find exercise you enjoy.

Stay healthy and yay you!

Well done that is a wonderful achievement.
If you are not getting a 'Pat on the back' in RL then you can be smug and treat yourself to something as a reward - and dont share it!!! Wink
