No, I think it's wrong if they are creating din too early in the morning, no I wouldn't allow that. Work people aren't really supposed to do anything that makes noise until about 10:00am so think that time is reasonable.

No, mine plays out on the road and in a field near our house which has other houses backing on to it; therefore he is not allowed to play out before 9am. He can go in the garden before that but he's not allowed to use the trampoline.

Mine is outside first thing, normally 7 but sometimes as early as five or six if she wakes earlier. She's never allowed to scream outside and at that time she knows she has to be super quiet, she just runs around and plays on the swings and slide. Nobody can hear her.

I think it's fine if they're not disturbing anyone but it's not acceptable for loud voices or banging at that time, screaming should never be tolerated unless they're alerting you to the fact that they're seriously hurt or being kidnapped (would love to pass a law on that one).

She is definitely not being unreasonable, it's anti social and horribly inconsiderate to wake the neighbours just because you're up.

Screaming children would annoy me at any time of the day. There's just no need for screeching and screaming unless they are in extreme pain.

Children playing normally wouldn't bother me before 7.30 though.

In the week when I've been pegging out washing before I go to work, ds has gone out and gone on his swing, but if he was making a lot of noise I'd tell him to shush. However, my neighbours leave for work before 8 so I don't think it would disturb. Weekend totally different-not before 9.

No way would I have let DD out to play at 7:30am, especially on a weekend. Mind you, knowing DD there's little chance of her actually being awake by that time in general.

Weekend, outside playing loudly, running around, bouncing balls, etc - 9:30am at very earliest. Weekdays a bit earlier - most are out by 8am here in time to start going to school.

I guess in your own gardens and playing really quietly - talking voices, not shouting voices - then they are not really making enough noise to wake anyone up anyway.

Would the person arguing that they should be allowed to be noisy early in the morning be happy if I was outside playing music or mowing the lawn or something at 10pm? After all I haven't finished my day...

If it's unsociable hours (and before half 7 is definitely unsociable) then the noise should be kept down. I honestly don't care if the children are outside playing or not - as long as they are quiet!

i always stay in till 10.30 on weekends and days, just because eveyonesd so quite, and i cant be sure they're awake yet

I have to say that it hadn't occurred to me that it would be a problem. With the hot weather in the summer and two very early risers, ours have been outside playing from 7 quite often. I don't think that they are particularly loud, but I'm used to it!
Neighbours (only have them on one side) sleep at the front of the house though and have double glazing so not sure that they'd be woken up by them.

In term time not until after school but then there wouldn't really be time before anyway, in half term not until after 9. Weekends not until after 10 as I appreciate those that work all week would probably like a lie in.

I also try and keep the kids as quiet as possible indoors until at least 10am because I know the lady next door works varying nights and therefore likes to sleep in until at least 10 when she's been at work and the walls are really thin.

Hypothetically, I think not before 8am weekdays and 9am weekends (although we have no garden so it's an academic issue in our case).

Crinkle77 Tue 10-Sep-13 14:53:41

She is BU. I work hard all week and enjoy a lie in at the weekend so would be annoyed if it was before 7.30. If it is in the week then she also needs consider those doing shift work.

Our neighbours child plays out from about 7am nearly every morning. She's only 3 or 4, but she has a very loud voice and is always shouting for Mum or Dad to come and watch her do this. It's rather annoying as she does wake my DD up.

supermariossister Tue 10-Sep-13 14:20:04

no not before school would get filthy. and not at weekends before around ten because they generally are loud and I like to be considerate

Bumblequeen Tue 10-Sep-13 13:52:19

No my dd does not play out before school. My neighbours dc play out in their uniform in the summer months anytime from 7.30am --do their parents not worry about them dirtying their clothes?-'. At the weekends they are out before 9am.

Lets just say I am pleased when it rains and when autumn is approaching!

Weegiemum Tue 10-Sep-13 13:17:26

Mine never go out before school (they leave at 8) and come in before its dark (about 8.30 now, later in may/June).

Dahlen Tue 10-Sep-13 13:15:11

My DC are not horrifically noisy, but I wouldn't let them out to play before 9am in case neighbours were sleeping. But then my neighbours work 9-5 hours (or thereabouts). What if they're shift workers? wink

jacks365 Tue 10-Sep-13 13:07:09

I wouldn't care as we are up and about at 6.30 dd2 leaves for college at 7.10, refuse wagons come round about 7 (first on round). Life doesn't start at 8.30 here but much earlier. Guess it all depends what people are use to.

SilverStreak7 Tue 10-Sep-13 13:05:57

Oops sorry , it come out triple.

SilverStreak7 Tue 10-Sep-13 13:05:17

Mine do not play out early especially school days (all I can do to get them up to get ready to leave on time) .. On a weekend if they go out its never really before 11.00 in morning or so . ..usually as they don;t get up till late.

See not all kids scream, those that do should be kept inside until 9!

Beastofburden Tue 10-Sep-13 12:56:20

I would say, make no noise outside before 8am weekdays and 9am weekends. Kids being kids includes IMHO learning that it is not all about them. Friend Two IBVU and self-centred, and is probably storing up trouble for the teen years..

SilverApples Tue 10-Sep-13 11:50:03

Mine used to play out very early, DS was in the garden by 7am some mornings in the summer. But mine have never been noisy when playing.
So it isn't the presence of the children, it's the volume that is a problem for many.
