I love my children. They are 4 & 7.

We have had a great summer. 5 weeks. At home. I haven't worked all holiday.

DH seems to think as I'm 'doing nothing' all summer I can do everything regards bathtime etc as 'he's been at work all day'.

I can't take it any more. The constant noise, the climbing on me, the chicken impressions, the squabbling.

I know I should be grateful & I'll miss this when they are older but Jesus Christ!

Aaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh

Thank you.

The thing is, they are bored. Not physically, we have made cakes, visited castles, built dens, been to the playground, bikes etc.

I think it's mental stimulation they're lacking and they are going a bit loco.

They just need some structure, some assigned tasks & someone other than me.

School, that'll be it.

Be glad you don't live in NI, they get 8 weeks IIRC

Can your recreate school for an afternoon? Give them some written tasks, interspersed with some play, and breaks? Bet they'd love the novelty!

YANBU.
I'm already missing DD as I love her being on holiday (no school runs, usual routines etc) but she is ready to go back and missing the social interactions and stimulation of school.

Have had to explain to 7 yo that, as much as I love him, no he can't camp in the living room because I have been in his company for 15 hours straight and need to be by myself.

DH has seen the desperation in my eyes & is making home made chips Grin

I m in Spain - DD broke up on the 14 June and goes back 9 September.

I think that is 14 weeks mas o menos.

It is a full on missión to survive and this year I planned it well, I was prepared. Last year, in the baking heat, was a nightmare.

Every morning. At 6.15 or earlier.
My patience is waning.

Yep nokids, every weekend DH has said. 'What are we doing'

Every week I explain that I have conjured up entertainment all week so he can think up something by himself & drive me there.

Ah neveronasunday that's where you are making the mistake - you tell him 'I don't know what you and the children are doing, but take some photos and tell me about it when you get home and the children are in their beds'. Grin

Yanbu
I've taken my kids out at least once per day over the holiday (park/ bike ride etc)
Today I stayed home to clear out the bedrooms ready for new school stuff and have a good tidy up

BIG mistake

The house is worse now than before
Every time I picked up a toy to put in charity bag, it instantly became their favourite toy ( bear in mind I didn't even recognise some of the toys)

Every 10 mins "I'm hungry"
"Can I have a drink"

Dd2 is picking on me

Etc...
I'm going to my brothers tomorrow, I think we will swop children for a couple of hours!

Waves back to goodtobetter I'm in Valencia - the humidity is killing me! But took DD off to Cornwall for a week in a static caravan to get away from it and have a bit of English culture - it helped alot!

Where are you?
Love it here but - the summer holidays are ridiculous and guess what - the first week back is only the morning 'to ease them in'-
Bloody painful it has been!

Basically DD does not go to school for half the year Grin
