(Naty ones) I use them with DS2 (2.8) and have done on and off since he was born (he was also in cloth from about 4 months to about 18m, but I can't hack it any longer with his horrible sloppy poos, nor can I find affordable trousers that fit over them). I prefer them to other brands because they seem to have upped their game a lot in the last couple of years (they were rubbish when DS1 was a baby) and have good absorbency, and yes, I've also bought into their alleged biodegradability. They make me feel less guilty about abandoning cloth, anyway! Pampers and similar smell horrible, look horrible and cost about the same, and I found Pampers leak like a bastard. Tesco own brand are fine but I want to stick with something that might be a little easier on the environment.
Ok. So I like them for various reasons, but is it me, or do they have REALLY shoddy construction? You'll often find that half a pack has wonky side tabs, like there was a run of duff ones on the production line and they all ended up in one packet. Sometimes the sodding tab isn't even there on one side, other times it's bonded to the nappy in a way that it won't unpeel, and you end up tearing it. And if you use any force at all (i.e. while changing a nappy on a v v wriggly 2.8 yr old with ASD) the bloody tabs pull off very easily. At about 22p per unit, that is not on. I end up leaving the torn ones to one side and then fixing them with sellotape, or reinforcing them with a washable nappy cover over the top. I have never come across this sort of production error problem with any other disposable.
Should I just send the crappily-tabbed nappies back to NatureBaby and point out how shite it is? What would they do in return? I have a fair amount of product loyalty to them, and the fact that they (allegedly) biodegrade is important to me, so I don't want to stop buying them, but it's almost enough to drive me back to cloth!
(am awaiting the posts telling me that IABU for a) having a nearly 3 yo in nappies still, and b) not being in cloth to start with. )
