To love Google Street View?!

I do! I could spend hours on there. DH gives me this look when ever he sees me trawling the globe Hmm and you can practically see the speech bubble coming out of his head that thinks 'geek.' Grin
I mean, you can go all over. Just last night I was meandering down Rodeo Drive a'la Pretty Woman looking at all the designer shops I'd so get booted out by snotty sales assistants in RL
I'm improving my geography too. I didn't know Alaska, US, and Russia practically touch in a certain place.
Now I do!
I was also in Bangkok.
Is anyone else a Google Street Geek?!

I love it too. Last night I went for a trek along the Stuart Highway in Australia.

There is a place in Australia called Humpty Doo. Thats the actual name. Amazing.

When I told DP he just gave me a Hmm face.

I love it too. When I was clearing out my loft recently I found some old letters from my old pen pal who lived in California and looked up his house on Street View - it was amazing!

Try this if you love street view. It drops you somewhere in the world and you have to work out where you are. The more accurate you are, the more points you get.

Some really quirky things show up; if you search Stonebridge Road N17, there's a passenger jet pictured immediately below the satellite camera. It must be thousands of feet above the ground, and the camera must be several thousand feet above that . . . . yet the detail at street level is amazing!

I love it for work, carriars must hate it when I tell them I've looked and can't see why Tgey had a problem delivering!

Another fan here. It's so valuable when selecting hotels in foreign lands (and also orientating yourself on how to get there). It takes away uncertainty as everything is so familiar and comfortable. Pleased to say I even introduced DP to the delights.

Wow loving the plane!

I have been known to meander down the strip in Vegas or around Italian streets. I've never stalked film stars houses though, nope never!

I hate it, I'm on it. A couple weeks post baby, massive bright floral dress, massive fat arse, pushing the buggy up the road. Forever. Awful.

Apparently they get re done Mairy so you may disappear.

I love looking up where friends live if I have never visited there and I look up my old home (sold last year) and remind myself how glad I am it's sold. I can look up the house I was born in and see what it looks like now. I also had a few addresses I'd always planned on checking out after coming across them on birth certificates when researching family history. Thanks to google streetview I now have photos printed out of them. It's saved me from having to wander around some dodgy areas to look at addresses.

Years ago before streetview, I booked a guesthouse in a little square full of other guest houses. It looked very nice. When we arrived, it turned out to be the main A - road out of town and was noisy most of the day and night. Wish I'd had streetview then instead of the tourist information centre map!

I spend hours on it... Literally. I like to pick random cities in far flung parts of the world and tool along getting a feel for what the suburbs look like in Guadalajara or Bruges..

I am such an addict that I check it regularly to see if they have put new countries on. I have made my peace with the fact that the most unimaginable places in the world will probably never get on there. I will probably not get to trawl around downtown Pyongyang any time soon for example.

Still hours of fun though...

OP you're most definitely not alone- I live it too, I can virtually visit wherever I want!

Yes, hours of amusement, for me at least not sure if the OH thinks the same way as me Smile

I love looking up where I used to live as a child and retracing all my old childhood walks.

I too love looking at the house where I was born and grew up. I also like looking at where we are going on holiday soon, and other places we have been Smile

Yay, not just me! I'm going to have to have a nosey at that geoguess website, sounds great! I know I'm going to be absolutely rubbish at it though.... Grin
Google Street View is also ace if you're going on holiday. Went to London a while back and knew my way around and to the hotel courtesy of good old Street View as I'd been up and down the streets the night before going...
