AIBU to want to kill him......?

Am going camping tomorrow , 5am start. Have spent all week getting ready whilst working as well. DH has been away fro three days with DS at a sporting event.
Usually he has form for losing his driving licence or car documents so I got these ready having made a file to keep them safe.
Slight blip when he lost his spare glasses but he found them.
Packed the car and roof box , then he announces 2 hours ago that he has lost the spare house keys and the key to the second car!
So after accusing me of moving them we have spent 2 hours scouring the house and garden, in the dark with torches. Eventually found then having emptied the car, on top of the roof box..... Argh! Have made myself a cup of tea to calm down. Had got to the point where I was ready to call it off.
He does something like this every time, it does my head in.

pack him in the roof box, quite early on, let him out when you get there to help put up the tent

i was going to suggest that you put tyhe keys somewhere, sideways where he definitely will not be able to forget where they are.

Both ideas quite temping! Am calmer now but earlier was so angry I couln't even cry.
A solo holiday with just one bag is sooooo tempting.

Ah, a classic DH move. Today he was doing some DIY in DS' room and managed to "lose" the spanner he was using, without even leaving the room (cue him stressing and saying "I've looked everywhere" and "I don't understand!"). I handed him DS and calmly found the tool in about three nanoseconds.

It is annoying but I like the air of superiority I can assume when I inevitably find said item . I don't take responsibility for his documents and stuff though - I'm not his mother.

Mine does this too, after too many years I simply say 'have you?' and then leave him to get on with it. He's really getting rather good at finding things now that he knows he's on his own

My Dsis OH is exactly the same regarding keys. Dsis has fixed an 'antler' type key holder to the back of their front door and trained their two DS to say 'Dad, keys' and point to the key holder every time he comes into the house.

She did think he was untrainable, but it is slowly working. I hope this gives you some hope :)
