They are giggling and chattering, and going to be vile tomorrow, and I need to go to sleep now.

Can I drug them or something?

They are 9. It's gone a bit quieter, with just occasional. Any more loud noises and Dragon Mum it is then. Poor things Grin

We used to just stuff cotton wool in our ears and hope for the best. Oddly enough, DSs sleepovers were quieter than DDs.

I have been back in. They heard me coming and hilariously pretended to be asleep. Despite this they got told. They are going to be up at 6 aren't they?

I bloody hate sleepovers. WHY do I agree to them? Idiocy.

Sleepovers are banned in our house. I've had too many of them and not doing it again EVER! I hope you got some sleep Impulse What idiot came up with the idea of "sleepovers" anyway. When I was a kid we used to stay round friend's houses, but it was expected and accepted that you went to sleep at some point, a bit later than usual but always by midnight (even at 12yo)

I make mine sleep, well, I make them turn out the light & turn off all the screens, & talk so quietly that no one can hear them. It works! At least they next day they aren't utter paranaoid fragile falling apart zombies, which is what happens when they go to sleepovers elsewhere.

Oh, and I send a toothbrush. Why does no one send a toothbrush with their child ever?!

We used to try and stay awake all night at sleepovers...managed it once and the next day my mum collected me. My great gran was at our house and she said I couldn't go to bed until after she'd gone home, so I had to sit and make conversation for 2hrs struggling to keep my eyes open when all I wanted was my bed! Best punishment ever...I've always appreciated my sleep since then.

Just to add...let them stay up, play quiet music so you don't have to listen to them and then they'll have to deal with the being shattered the next day themselves.

When dd was aged between about 6 and 11 I hated sleepovers, or wakeovers as they should be called...they never slept and made such a bloody mess etc, used to drive me mad, and they'd always be in and out asking for something or telling tales etc then they'd be up at the crack of dawn (shudders even at the memory of it!)

Anyway just to give you hope - she's 13 now, and sleepovers are much improved! They spend most of the time watching TV or on the Internet, don't bother us at all, and they seem to actually sleep - right through until mid afternoon most of the time!

You can't drug them, but you can drug yourself.......

When I had this I stomped in at about midnight and said that if they weren't quiet in the next 10 minutes I would be calling their parents to come and pick them up and take them home. Cue total silence then "cor, your mum's fierce isn't she!" - RESULT, and they were quiet straight after that.
