In reference to the most recent deleted post.. The op ended every reply with a 'x' ... A red flag if ever there was one!

Who knows why people would do this, but I do wish that we could see what made MNHQ decide when a thread is a wind up and when it is genuine. I always assume that people are genuine - and then get bitten on the bum! I just don't get it Confused

I was going to say something similar. How do they know I wonder?

I have no idea! I find it completely bizarre, TBH, and can't see the point. The only reason I post on here is to ask genuine questions, ask for honest opinions from people who can hopefully take an unbiased view of my situation, or to offer my own perspective if I feel I have something to contribute.

I could (presumably) pretend to be a glamorous, rich, beautiful blonde with a fabulous lifestyle. But I'd rather be honest about the fact that I'm a cynical 46 yo with a lot of teenagers and occasionally helpful views on life.

I was just telling Prince Charles about that thread when it was deleted. He has gone orf to chat to his plants now in a mood!

Because life can be boring, the posters life may be boring, and most people lead rather run of the mill lives, so when a sensational thread is posted, if probably made up. What was it about?

Report
scrazy · 01/08/2013 20:45

'it' not if

I've been on a forum where made up threads were genuinely funny.

If well done, the OP can spin out the joke and the replying posters gradually see the light but with good humour on both sides. It's not easy to do but if it's done well it can be really funny. But it only works if there is no real intent to deceive, just amuse. And very few people can pull it off.

If you are talking about the thread I have in mind, there was no humour or entertainment value.

It's a wee bit of attention. No harm really if it is just chatter. More problematic if people get involved emotionally.

It certainly was the most interesting on here today.
Is it sad that I feel a shiver of excitement when I see that mnhq have had to get involved in something? I must get out more.

Apologies for the lack of aibu

It's a shame .... Could this be because no one just smiles or says hi when they are out and about anymore ... What is this world coming to ! sigh full of lonely people !

Report
usualsuspect · 01/08/2013 20:54

I rarely read relationship threads, most of the trolls seem to hang about in there.

Report
Whothefuckfarted · 01/08/2013 20:55

Just for the record. Trolls can't be easily identified by an IP address. All you need to do is turn your router off (for about 2 minutes) then on again and wala.. new IP address.

Now what thread are you on about? Grin
