It's bloomin' horrible and I just don't want to do it, and no bugger else will do it for me.

WIBU to scour the yellow pages rather than the cooker???

YANBU

I had mine done about 3 months ago. I lied to her and said I'd only just moved in and it wasn't my cooker!

I have mine done when I can afford it. Do it.

Friend of mine gets her cooker cleaned for only £75 every 6 months Shock

I just can't justify that kind of money. I'm a huge fan of oven mate though, it's fabulous, you just paint it on and wipe off all the crap a few hours later.

YANBU. I'm currently contemplating ringing the bloke from Express Oven cleaning who advertises in our village magazine.

£75??? Bloody Norah!!

I found a quote for £35 for my double oven, seems a bit of a bargain now...

Envy no.

£35 sounds tempting. My friends one sounds that expensive she might as well buy a new oven every couple of years.

I say to for it, get it cleaned but then keep on top of it (easier said than done).

My oven is a state. I'm planning to get someone in to do it properly. I want to get those removeable sheets for the bottom afterwards

Oh that seems like a good idea, the latest disaster was an overfilled lasagne that's now baked onto the bottom of the oven.

Where can you get them from?

If you can afford it, do it. We got ours done when we moved house - totally worth the £45. I have one of the removable oven liners from Lakeland, & it'll never get as bad as it was when we moved in!

Well so long as you are not going to blow your grocery budget and starve your DCs to pay for it then of course YANBU

Alternatively, you buy one like mine, and as its under warrenty, i can ring them every year for five years and they will come and clean it for me Grin

I paid £45 and it was the best money ever spent. Oven pride didn't touch the sides on mine I'm afraid after the dirty feckers before us had moved out.
'twas like a new oven.
Getting it done once a year now as its a job I never want to do again.

stripeyspots · 30/07/2013 20:28

Yanbu, but I'd be too embarrassed to let anyone see mine.

ProudNeathGirl · 30/07/2013 20:29

We have ours cleaned about twice a year, and its the best money I spend in the whole year. The oven is 15 years old, but comes up like brand new.

Go for it. I get my oven and carpets cleaned when they need it. Why not?

YANBU, 'twas bloody wonderful when I had mine done, though DH still thinks it was all down to me Blush

YANBU if you've got the money to spare.

Worth every penny.

And don't be embarrassed by the state of it - the man who does mine also gets to do lots of student ovens at end of tenancies. He said they're like that filthy house TV show.

Oven pride it's meant to be really bad for your oven, it leave 'pits' as it's so strong and so crud gets even more stuck to it.

Sparklingbrook · 30/07/2013 20:40

Ooh do it. It's £40 round here. It's like a new oven after-I nearly hugged the man.

Mario does mine. 75 for a double oven twice a year. In my new house I'm having a catalytic self cleaning oven though and its above waist height so I won't have to get on my knees to give it a wipe over.
