It's bloomin' horrible and I just don't want to do it, and no bugger else will do it for me.

WIBU to scour the yellow pages rather than the cooker???

SugarSpunSisters Tue 30-Jul-13 20:11:09

I had mine done about 3 months ago. I lied to her and said I'd only just moved in and it wasn't my cooker!

BurningBridges Tue 30-Jul-13 20:12:04

I have mine done when I can afford it. Do it.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful Tue 30-Jul-13 20:12:40

Friend of mine gets her cooker cleaned for only £75 every 6 months shock

I just can't justify that kind of money. I'm a huge fan of oven mate though, it's fabulous, you just paint it on and wipe off all the crap a few hours later.

YANBU. I'm currently contemplating ringing the bloke from Express Oven cleaning who advertises in our village magazine.

MrsSippy Tue 30-Jul-13 20:15:36

£75??? Bloody Norah!!

I found a quote for £35 for my double oven, seems a bit of a bargain now...

BlackeyedSusan Tue 30-Jul-13 20:17:41

envy no.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful Tue 30-Jul-13 20:17:59

£35 sounds tempting. My friends one sounds that expensive she might as well buy a new oven every couple of years.

I say to for it, get it cleaned but then keep on top of it (easier said than done).

Squitten Tue 30-Jul-13 20:20:40

My oven is a state. I'm planning to get someone in to do it properly. I want to get those removeable sheets for the bottom afterwards

MrsSippy Tue 30-Jul-13 20:23:06

Oh that seems like a good idea, the latest disaster was an overfilled lasagne that's now baked onto the bottom of the oven.

Where can you get them from?

shoofly Tue 30-Jul-13 20:24:45

If you can afford it, do it. We got ours done when we moved house - totally worth the £45. I have one of the removable oven liners from Lakeland, & it'll never get as bad as it was when we moved in!

SuperiorCat Tue 30-Jul-13 20:25:26

Well so long as you are not going to blow your grocery budget and starve your DCs to pay for it then of course YANBU

deemented Tue 30-Jul-13 20:26:03

Alternatively, you buy one like mine, and as its under warrenty, i can ring them every year for five years and they will come and clean it for me grin

valiumredhead Tue 30-Jul-13 20:26:27

So worth the 40 odd quid I paid. It took him over an hourblush

thebody Tue 30-Jul-13 20:26:58

I did it 2 years ago, fuck

thebody Tue 30-Jul-13 20:27:30

ing brilliant. when have cash again will not hesitate.

PatTheHammer Tue 30-Jul-13 20:27:44

I paid £45 and it was the best money ever spent. Oven pride didn't touch the sides on mine I'm afraid after the dirty feckers before us had moved out.
'twas like a new oven.
Getting it done once a year now as its a job I never want to do again.

stripeyspots Tue 30-Jul-13 20:28:09

Yanbu, but I'd be too embarrassed to let anyone see mine.

ProudNeathGirl Tue 30-Jul-13 20:29:53

We have ours cleaned about twice a year, and its the best money I spend in the whole year. The oven is 15 years old, but comes up like brand new.

Thesimplethings Tue 30-Jul-13 20:30:06

Go for it. I get my oven and carpets cleaned when they need it. Why not?

BaconAndAvocado Tue 30-Jul-13 20:30:35

YANBU, 'twas bloody wonderful when I had mine done, though DH still thinks it was all down to me blush

miffybun73 Tue 30-Jul-13 20:32:09

YANBU if you've got the money to spare.

cq Tue 30-Jul-13 20:35:16

Worth every penny.

And don't be embarrassed by the state of it - the man who does mine also gets to do lots of student ovens at end of tenancies. He said they're like that filthy house TV show.

valiumredhead Tue 30-Jul-13 20:38:50

Oven pride it's meant to be really bad for your oven, it leave 'pits' as it's so strong and so crud gets even more stuck to it.

Sparklingbrook Tue 30-Jul-13 20:40:19

Ooh do it. It's £40 round here. It's like a new oven after-I nearly hugged the man.
