AIBU?

To not care about rain on my washing?

Obviously following on from neighbour thread. I don't understand the MN horror at letting washing get wet in rain, then leaving it until it is dry and then getting it in and wearing it. It's just rain FFS! There are far, far more germs and dirt on your keyboards/mobile phones etc.

Also I don't iron, do maintenance washes or own a peg bag. I'm pretty sure my clothes are clean and I don't smell.

I don't get it either..

I might understand if I lived next to a main road with stinky fumes.
Or next to a weed smoking neighbour who stank my washing out..

But besides that, if it smells fine, it doesn't get washed again.

I'm no fool!

I don't mind a bit of rain either Smile

But you can get detergents and conditioner which is 'crystal rain' or 'rainforest' and other 'rain' flavours Grin

I don't mind either, I'm often surprised at how horrified people can be about such a ridiculous thing. Rain is water, what's the difference between that and the water in the machine? Grin

I don't have a peg bag but do iron so can't join your club, sorry

I don't understand why you would need to wash it if it gets wet in the rain either...in fact it can smell even fresher.

Mine would get a musty smell when I used to leave it to dry after a rainfall got it wet again.

There's acid, sand and all kind of shit in rain.

Rain water is softer than tap water and doesn't have all the chemicals in it that tap water has. Is annoying though if the clothes are dry and then it rains,

I don't get it either, and what's with the matching pegs crap? People have too much time on their hands...

We don't dissolve in it tho...

Well maybe we should all retreat to a bunker when it rains then ... all kind of shit?????

Whether I washed the clothes again would depend on whether I could be bothered and how long they had been out in the rain.

I would only be annoyed about it getting wet if it was dry when it started raining iyswim.

I never used to do maintenance washes until my machine broke and I was advised by the repair man to do them. It wasn't the reason the machine broke, just something he advised.

I've never ever rewashed washing that got wet in the rain.

Are you meant to care about rain? I never got that memoShock

I've just stood outside in the rain to cool down.

Lovely it was.

YANBU. Odd thread, that. To me it sounds the same as letting yourself in to your neighbour's house to pick up their post and put it on the side so that they don't have the inconvenience of walking over their post when they get in. Disproportionate response to a non-problem.

I have a peg bag though. It's outside now, getting wet in the OMGRAIN!

I care because I don't want my washing to get wet after I've waited all day for it to dry. It ruins my washing and drying and putting away schedule.

MadBusLady · 27/07/2013 19:35

Maybe it depends on the size of household, then. Washing schedule isn't that tight here.

Sallystyle · 27/07/2013 19:37

Doesn't bother me either, it's only rain.

It's annoying if it was was dry before it rained.

But meh, it dries eventually.
