sorry if i've put the neighbours theme tune in your head Smile

I ran into my next door neighbours last night and mentioned i havent seen all the birds in their garden lately (ds loves watching them out of the window looking at how many come down to eat the bread the man leaves out for them). They told me the nighbour on the other side of them had told them not to feed the birds anymore as they had crapped in her garden. We live right next door also and dont have a problem so i tld them to take no notice of her and carry on doing as they please in their own house. Both of them are disabled and they also care for a severely disabled son so as they dont get out much the man loves tending to his garden and feeding the birds.

I am fuming on their behalf that this woman has told them what to do in their own house, since she moved in a few years ago she has caused numerous arguements with everyone, she will hunt you donw if you park 1 inch in front of her house but feels nothing if she does the same to you and constantly blocks my car in my drive, she regularly has loud parties that go on till the early hours, 1 last year started at 8pm on a saturday and finished on sunday morning and as much as various people asked her to turn the music down she ignored us. I think these neighbours are frightened of her, aibu to start feeding the birds myself also. I told them to carry on doing what they were doing and its none of her business, if we gve into her over this she will think she can tell everyone what to do.

Wow. She's really that bothered about bird crap in her garden ? Who worries about that?! I would ignore her and feed the birds. It's the squirrels and rats/mice that would bother me more! How odd of her.

I know but she gets over excited at the slightest thing, she has 2 dogs herself so surely the crap they produce is far worse than anything a bird could manage Grin

Feed the birds yourself.

I remember there being a story about a woman who was issued with an Asbo after refusing to stop feeding the birds. There were literally hundreds of the pesky things swooping down daily for food, made the neighbours lives hell. I have sympathy with the neighbours who asked them to stop.

yanbu, your neighbour sounds like a horrible bully. I love birds in the garden, she is being ridiculous to complain about that especially considering how inconsiderate she is towards others genuine complaints about her. Can you get all your neighbours together and stand up to her? She won't bully one if she thinks there'll be a whole group support behind them.

trifle Id be feeling the same if i had masses of birds circuling above my garden but were talking about the odd starling, pigeons and a few seagulls now and again, not even every single day.

I cant stand bullies. Its the fact she thinks its ok to tell them that has wound me up for some reason. I have put up bird feeders in the front garden already and will be feeding them myself too. Grin

I'd be feeding dem birdies! Better to use birdseed than bread, mind you.

I only get bothered about bird crap on the washing but i swear to god the doos round here see a line of clean washing as a challenge...

I think it all depends on tone: -

Scenario 1 - "I'm really sorry to have to ask you this, but we know you feed the birds and we're really struggling with the amount of bird poo in our garden as a result - would you mind not feeding them as often" - is perfectly resonable

Scenrio 2 - "stop feeding the birds immediately or you'll be sorry" - completely unreasonable!

one of the neighbours feeds the bids pidgeons every fucking day she lays down an entire sack of seed and loads of loaves of bread.... at the bottom of her l-o-n-g garden she also without fail feeds the mange ridden foxes periodically am and pm again at the bottom of her garden.

birds eat until they can barely fly then shit all over our roof / front door / kids play area (live in a block of flats neighbour has house) every time it rains pidgieon shit runs out of the gutters all over the communal walkway which we HAVE to walk through to get in our flat... and as for the foxes it is just a mater of time before one of them goes for a child they are move than happy to wander out in the day time and have been known to square up to adults.

but she is 'just' feeding the wildlife .....

If the feeding caused that level of problem then the OP, as the other next door neighbour, would also be seeing the effects. She isn't.
