AIBU to buy this?

WIBU to buy bit.ly/13sduqG this -penis- -extension- car?

I've liked them for ages, and am now in a position to be able to afford one in addition to a "proper" car.

But... I'm an accountant (in a dull industry), I drive a very dull car normally, and I've got 2 young DCs (7&4).

I'm single (separated for about a year), and I'm concerned that -women- people will think I am a massive prick (rather than that I have a massive prick) for driving one.

I'm under no illusions that it won't make make me look any cooler or more desirable; I just like them and think it would be fun to drive.

So: AIBU to get this car, on grounds that I'm having an early mid-life crisis and that I should grow up, or can I get away with it without -prospective- -partners- thinking I'm a total bellend?

I await the MN jury's decision...

can't see the link, but i think you should buy yourself whatever make you happy & don't give a toss what others think. It is just a car, if it is one you have always wanted then go for it. If you pay too much attention to what others think you may as well build a duvet fort & stay there for the rest of your life.

Sorry to be harsh but it really is a midlife crisis car. It also says look at me pretending that I'm young.

Poodle generally I care very little about people's opinion of me, but specifically in context of maybe wanting to meet someone, it might come across as a bit dickish.

Slainte yes, that's my worry. I mean, I know that's not why I want one, but others don't.

Oh, FFS grow up! It's a car! If you want it, get it. If not don't. How old are you?

That car screams "player" to me and when I was single it would have made me a bit wary. But if you want one, get one, I just wouldn't use it on the first few dates with someone. Anyway it sounds like you have a good sense of humour which will take you far in the dating world regardless, and its just my opinion about the car.

onesleep blunt. I like it. Old enough to know better...

Getting So you don't think I should turn up in it on a first date, hard house on the stereo, and wearing a tight muscle top with my belly hanging out of the bottom ?

I think you should turn up in it on your first date and drive it at a max of 20mph just to mess with them.

Not my taste but if you like it go for it, why not and I'm sure your kids will think it's fun.

Not sure if my opinion is what you're after... The fact that my husband clearly didn't give a shit about his car and drove a battered fiesta when all his colleagues had poser cars actually attracted me to him!

I love love love these supras. A few of my friends owned them, beautiful cars.
I have an impractical car with a little one, you make it work when you love the car.

Buy yourself the car. Nothing wrong with it. My do is a bit of a petrol head ( I'm not really bothered) but people generally don't think he's a dick when he turns up in a flashy (ish) car. Unless he's driving like a 17 year old boy racer that is. (Which I hasten to add he does not )
You probably will get the odd midlife crisis comment, but just smile and nod and get into your little dream car and drive away :-p

I wouldn't judge a person by the car they drive tbh. If you want it and can afford it then get it. Enjoy it. Simples.

If it's twin turbo and manual, yes. If it's N/A and auto, no.

It does have a Fast and Furious image from modifying, street racing and drifting scenes and all that, but it's a good car. I'd personally prefer a Skyline, but I reckon Supras are probably better value (not checked prices).

As for what people think: fuck 'em. If you like the car and enjoy driving it, looking at it, washing it, whatever, you enjoy it; if people are so shallow as to think the car says something about you, it's a fairly good litmus test of their personality, and a good idea to steer clear of them.

Well, MN, I'm surprised! I was expecting plenty of "FFS grow up, are you still a teenager?", and at least one "if DP got one of these I'd LTB".

It's.just.a.car

They get you from A to B

Some are nicer to look at than others

I really don't know why people think anyone would be having any kind of 'crisis' due to the transport they choose.

Just buy it.

Time exactly my concern. Does it count if it's much smaller than my big (boring) car?
