AIBU?

My 23 month old son wakes at 5.30 to 6am every day

Which is fine, it is just his sleep pattern. He goes asleep at 7pm every night. But I keep thinking of a previous AIBU thread where parents who let their toddlers watch 2-3 hours of tele a day were flamed, in particular one poster said parents who do this "obviously their heart isn't in it"

So AIBU to think these same parents don't have an early riser...

Because my heart is very much into parenting, but from 5.45 to hopefully 7.15 I can manage to lie in bed whilst DS watches the iPad... Or am I supposed to be bouncing around downstairs coming up with fun filled activities at dawn?

(For the record he also watches the bedtime hour on cbeebies - wind down time.. - hence the 2-3 hours)

I'm jealous! My 21m is an early riser but she isn't interested in the telly.

I have been up since 4:30am with 20 mo DS

The TV has been on since we got up. I am barely functional.

If that means "my heart isn't in it" I will glady drop him round to some more perfect parent tomorrow morning when he wakes at 4:30 and they can knock themselves out doing potato prints and baking whilst I get some zzz Grin

Thanks sweep! I just keep thinking of that smug comment "you heart isn't in it" if your babies watch tv. I really want to know what they would do at 5.45am... Start making craft puppets?

Another early rising family agreeing 100% DD didn't sleep past 6am until she was 6. Even now (2 years on) it's a miracle if she sleeps past 7am. I can hear her stirring now, and she didn't go to sleep last night until about 10 because of the heat.

Channel 5's "Milkshake" Show was my saviour in the early years. Now it will be some American shite like iCarly or Victorious, but anything is better than being 'cheerful, happy, bouncy mum' at 6am Grin

Have also been up for one hour - hello to other early birds (whether you want to be or not)!

I do exactly the same except its lots of Peppa on V+ box whilst DD merrily uses our bed as a trampoline & DH & I try to catch a few more minutes sleep!

Happy days :)

YANBU

My 34mth old currently wakes between 4:30-6am. He settles anywhere between 7 and 10pm. If I didn't rely on CBeebies sometimes, I'd be a wreck.

The potato prints made me laugh! Ahhh, I have friends whose babies don't wake until gone 7am every day... Can you imagine... (Stares wistfully off into distance!)

What I can't believe is that we now consider 7am a luxurious lie in Grin

I am such a bad mummy, I once gave him a bowl of chocolate buttons at 6am just to keep him quiet for 10 minutes Blush

That's got to be worse than the TV :)

So true... On the days my DH and I give each other a lie in and drag out tired bottoms down stairs, invariably the other one is up by 8am as that is a mega lie in now... Thinks back to Sunday morning 11ams...

Oh 11am :) Those were the days

And when you did get up you could just loaf around the house. No one tugging your arm shouting "mumma. mumma. pig mumma. make a tunnel mumma. outside, outside outsiiiiiiiiiiiiidddddddddddddee"

They kept him quiet long enough for me to drink a coffee uninterrupted. :)

9mth old DS wakes between 6-6.30, 7am is a lie in. I look forward to when I can pop him in front of the telly to get a few more Zzzz's Grin. Mind you I seem to wake at that time now regardless. Wistfully remember the days of lying in till shock horror 9am.
