Partner came home, hot sweaty and jumped in the shower. Got dirty clothes and put in washing machine.

Took them out of washing machine AND PUT THEM IN THE TUMBLE DRYER !!!!!

It is the hottest day of the year, I am cooking and Asda are about to do a home delivery. AIBU ? (I think not!)

I've just put my third load in the tumble dryer - eh?

Justforlaughs Thu 18-Jul-13 18:31:09

Assuming that you have the option of drying your washing outside, YANBU. Of course, if you don't, then the answer would be different grin

Nottalotta Thu 18-Jul-13 18:32:30

No yanbu!! Hang them out!!

LastTangoInDevonshire Thu 18-Jul-13 18:32:54

We have a very large garden complete with whirlygig clothes dryer !

I've now turned it off. He can put it on again later!

MrsBungle Thu 18-Jul-13 18:33:44

Yanbu. Waste of money/energy.

OnTheNingNangNong Thu 18-Jul-13 18:35:07

YANBU. It is boiling outside here, it is in most of the country. Why would he do that?

Relaxedandhappyperson Thu 18-Jul-13 18:35:49

Can't he peg it out?

Madratlady Thu 18-Jul-13 18:35:52

Unless you don't have outside space for a washing line I don't understand why you'd use the tumble dryer in this weather. Sun and air are free, electricity is not!

BigW Thu 18-Jul-13 18:37:46

I am still a bit shock that your DH comes home and puts his clothes in the washing machine. Mine would deffo leave his all over tge floor for me to pick up! envy

KittyVonCatsworth Thu 18-Jul-13 18:38:46

I would love to have the option of hanging washing outside but we live in a 'penthouse' (read: overpriced top floor flat) with no outside space (although pay factor fees).

Drop the damp clothes at his feet and deliver a swift flick to his testicles :-)

loveinthemist Thu 18-Jul-13 18:43:07

YANBU and I would be pissed off too. Has your partner heard of Global Warming? Sound a bit lazy...

NotYoMomma Thu 18-Jul-13 18:46:33

I havent hung clothes outside since spidergate 2007

Vivacia Thu 18-Jul-13 18:58:24

Only on MN have I come across people who use the tumble dryer so much, even to the extent of using it during perfect drying weather.

Jan49 Thu 18-Jul-13 19:04:18

What have cooking and Asda's delivery got to do with it? confused

I don't have a tumble drier and our washing dries very well indoors on an airer most of the year and particularly now, though I use a washing line too.

LaurieFairyCake Thu 18-Jul-13 19:04:22

I don't have a whirligig - just a yard with chickens.

Have used the tumble dryer in the outhouse for 7 years. Only occasionally drape a non tumbler dress over a chair.

LaurieFairyCake Thu 18-Jul-13 19:07:18

I would be quite happy if we all had our own individual carbon footprint.

Since I haven't flown for ten years grin

My tumbler wouldn't make a dent in one flight to feckin Guernsey.

BackforGood Thu 18-Jul-13 19:13:36

YOu mean he just picked up his shirt, trousers and underwear and se the washer off with those in it ? shock.
Now that I do find wasteful.
I still tumble dry when it's hot - I don't like crunchy towels, I haven't got hours to peg out individual socks and pants, and I don't do ironing.
More gets hung out, but not everything.

pianodoodle Thu 18-Jul-13 19:18:41

I'd don't like the thought of using a whole wash cycle for just a couple of things!

ShabbyButNotChic Thu 18-Jul-13 19:34:03

Wow yanbu! But i have inherited my mothers freakery of loving a full washing line smile we are both the same and if we wake up and see sunshine, bed get stripped immediately! Things dont feel right when they have been in the dryer...

Ra88 Thu 18-Jul-13 19:46:47

I agree with bigW !

RaisingChaotic Thu 18-Jul-13 19:48:43

I would have thought in this heat that the clothes are more likely to dry faster outside.

currentbuns Thu 18-Jul-13 19:50:44

Yes, I'm bemused by the reference to ASDA delivery, too... How is this related to the tumble drier?

kooksi Thu 18-Jul-13 19:50:50

but clothes come out all nice and soft and dust free from the dryer

poachedeggs Thu 18-Jul-13 19:51:51

My tumble dryer is ornamental in this weather. What's he thinking? It costs a bloody fortune to tumble dry clothes, and at the moment clothes are drying in a very short time on the line.
