How do you do it?!
I'm about a size 16 and wore a maxi dress yesterday and the pain from the top of my legs rubbing together was horrible! Really hurt!
I won't be wear a dress or skirt for the rest of summer I don't think.
And my legs leave a lot to be desired so that rules shorts out too.
Looks like I'm spending the entire summer in cropped trousers and strappy tops!

Long knicks from La Redoute
Mitchum on upper thighs

Oops posted too quickly - primark do short leggings that you could cut off.

Dunno if they still do em but evans used to do shortish cotton shorts, not skin tight but would be ok under skirts. I never got on with comfort shorts, too sweaty.

Little cotton cycling shorts instead of pants £3 a pair on eBay... I own a pair in every colour and match them to what I am wearing.

nenevomito Thu 18-Jul-13 12:47:34

ooh jendot - do you have a link?

x2boys Thu 18-Jul-13 12:54:34

And where di you buy any thing that looks even half decent I speak as a large lady myself? Who has spent the past few weeks sweltering in trousers and tops!

LadyCelia Thu 18-Jul-13 12:56:10

Deodorant stick rubbed on the rubby thigh areas works nicely I find.

ReginaPhilangie Thu 18-Jul-13 12:56:26

Yup cropped leggings or tights underneath.

pumpkinsweetie Thu 18-Jul-13 12:57:59

Thanks for the thread opsmile, was wondering the same thing!!
Great tip about cutting normal tights down and wearing them underneath, will give it a trysmile

Mandy2003 Thu 18-Jul-13 13:15:59

Ah, the Sloggi long legged knicks grin

I used to work in a canteen kitchen when I left school and all of us chubsters working there wore these under our (dinner lady-ish) overalls.

Lj8893 Thu 18-Jul-13 13:24:29

I do the cut off tights trick, but its starting to get uncomfortable the bigger my bump gets with the tights now so I am going to try alot of these tips!

Thanks OP for starting the thread and thanks everyone else for the ideas!

Mandy2003 Thu 18-Jul-13 13:27:00

I've put body glide on my shopping list!

Holly1977 Thu 18-Jul-13 14:22:30

I'm not particularly chubby but have started wearing dresses for the first time ever due to being 17 weeks pg. My thighs aren't chafing but do get sweaty. Seems to me that wearing anything under the dress like tights or shorts defeats the point of wearing it in the first place. currently I'm just sitting with my legs akimbo under the desk where no-one can see! smile

LongTailedTit Thu 18-Jul-13 14:34:17

This is brilliant for tips, thank you OP!
I've only had trouble with this since I was pregnant with DS, so have just had two years of really fecking sore inner thighs in summer, it really hurts!!
Shall try deo tomorrow.

WD40 does the trick.

I use long knickers. They are knickers with legs. They are cotton and quite light and thin, so much much better than tights or lycra or thick cycle shorts.

I find comfort shorts too sweaty.

catabouttown Thu 18-Jul-13 15:56:58

I concur with talcum powder!! I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and have given up completely on squeezing into my maternity trousers so maxi dresses is all I am wearing, I couldn't survive without talcum powder!!

Even when I wasn't pregnant though I have always had this problem, even when super slim I am all hips and thighs and end up with horrible spotty rashes on my thighs if wearing a skirt or short shorts when it is hot. I used to just out sudocrem on overnight to help ease the pain and ugliness but now I've discovered talcum powder I will stick with that!!

arghh Thu 18-Jul-13 16:04:26

3B ACTION CREAM! you can buy it online its austrailia's no1 anti chaffing cream! my other half gets what he calls chefs arse (that's the official industry term!!) and it works wonders!!

wonderingsoul Thu 18-Jul-13 16:04:53

I cut the legs of leggings.

I can't wear a dress without it and it's still cooler then wearing jeans or trousers.

ChippingInHopHopHop Thu 18-Jul-13 16:10:00

I just wear shorts. I don't have the prettiest legs on the plantet - but it's too hot to give a fuck... oh that and I look like a bloody lamp in a skirt or a dress grin

Wholetthedogin Thu 18-Jul-13 16:12:20

I use Vaseline. Works wonders!

picnicbasketcase Thu 18-Jul-13 16:15:56
