AIBU?

To not want people to throw water at me or my children 'for fun'

Twice over the last few days my children and I have had water thrown at us from a height by complete strangers. I am beginning to think we must be jinxed.
Yesterday a kid in a mall lobbed a water balloon at us from the floor above that landed on my dd's head- she wasn't hurt but got a terrible fright and wasn't herself for the rest of the day.
Today we were just walking down the street and people over a high wall threw a bucket of water at us. Thankfully it just landed on the back of my legs. I was going to call the police but wasn't convinced there would be a point.

Now maybe I'm being a fun sponge and just not seeing the harmless summer japes behind these actions but AIBU to think that a person quietly going about their business should be able to do so without getting drenched by complete strangers?

Taking an umbrella out tomorrow.

Shock

I'd freak if this happened to me. Have people really been lobbing water at you from a height under the guise it was helpful!? Bizarre.

How weird?

But I had to laugh at calling the Police!

Utterly bizarre though. YANBU

I though you meant water fights/games at school or clubs but from strangers yanbu and I'd hate it to happen to me even if I'd love to be soaked in cold water at times at the moment it's not acceptable for strangers to act like that!

I would go apeshit and probably thump them

Seriously though, wtf. Bizarre.

And how do you know what their intentions were? Unless I've read wrongly, you didn't actually speak to any of the water lobberers? Call after them to fuck right off next time.

We had this whilst driving the other day, two groups on each side of the road throwing water bombs at each other. One hit a motorcyclist as we passed and almost caused us to swerve.

I think it's disgusting, I was a couple of cars behind a van the other day and the passenger was using a super soaker on pedestrians and people waiting at bustops.

No I don't think they are being helpful! It's clearly the local youths' idea of fun. I know it doesn't hurt but when I'm just walking about with my kids I don't expect someone to smack them on the heads with water balloons or chuck buckets of water over walls. It's just nasty having a small girl crying because she got a fright while boys twice her age pee themselves laughing at her distress. Just a very peculiar thing to do in public to people you don't know.

Oh I shouted at today's water lobbers but they told me to fuck off. The one in the shop was on the floor above so I couldn't do anything but tell the security guard.

I got soaked the other day walking into town, by a group of teenagers leaning out of the top deck window of a school bus. A passer-by said it's always happening along there, they just unscrew their water bottles and aim at the nearest personShock.

From the amount of water it was more than a few bottles, I reckon they had a bucket up there! Ok I could see the funny side of it afterwards, but not when I was soaking wet, due to meet someone and tbh, a bit shaken up!Hmm

I got someone wet by accident on the schoolrun yesterday. Apologies if it was you!

I cant get my two to face the mission trek home unless i promise a waterfight on the way. Im quite a good shot, but my 4 yr old has splashed a few people!

I clicked on this and fully expected to say YABU get a sense of fun, but really? Water balloons lobbed on you form a height and random strangers chucking buckets at you?

YANBU very odd behaviour

How old is your DD? I'm normally pretty chilled but I'd turn into a snarling beast if anyone did that to mine - pfb etc... :)

I'd be going back later with a wheelbarrow full of shitty nappy bombs...

I'm sure I'm being totally unreasonable here but I would not be amused at being splashed by someone's 4 year old. Can you not just tell the DC they need to walk?

OP - hope you're ok. As you can see from my reaction, I wouldn't really like to be splashed by ac4 year old so I certainly wouldn't like a bucket of water over the head
