AIBU?

To be freaking out about a Luther style murderer lurking upstairs...

Am sitting on my stairs at the moment acting as a human barrier to a potential Luther madman hiding upstairs. I heard some weird noises up there earlier and told myself not to be silly but having come back from picking the big dd up from school there have been loads of intermittent beeps from upstairs, not in any kind of pattern and its freaking me out

I have made the DDs sit in the living room and I am sitting on the stairs with the front door open waiting for my big tall DH to get home.

I am being silly I know but I can't bring myself to go up there......... Grin Shock

Look on the bright side, Luther will turn up at some point! You don't have a cat do you? Hmm

Goodness you are being very brave. I would be at the pub having dinner not hanging around the house.

Do you think it could be a kids game?? Bop it or something like that left on?

Are you sure it's not the smoke alarm, telling you to change the batteries Grin

Luther-style murderers do not beep. They stay verrrryyy quiet. Ergo, there is no Luther-style murderer in your house. Or there is, but the noises and beeping are coincidental. HTH.

Ooh hasn't thought of that! Well we were sitting on the front lawn but its a bit hot so I am on the stairs now listening intently.. Strangely the beeping hasn't happened again which makes me think there is someone trying to lure me up there to look, standing under the smoke alarms pressing them.. Aaaahhhhhhhh!!!!

There is probably a toy leaning on another toy in the toy box and causing it to beep.

Also if you live in a semi or terraced house, the neighbours walking up and down stairs or messing about in their loft can cause noises in your own home. You might have a bird trapped in the attic.

Honestly, it's not likely to be a murderer Wink

But eldritch the mad one in last week's episode slammed the wardrobe door to make the girls go up there

We thought smoke alarm but it beeped in a weird for action, two beeps together, then one a few seconds later, and then it beeped again about ten mins later but in a different sequence.....

I am genuinely a bit scared. I know I'm being silly but can't help it!

True, Charlie. But beeping is so un-murderer-like, isn't it?

And first rule of scary noises is: Always Investigate In Pairs. Quick, grab a weapon and run to back up your DH. Safety in numbers, innit?

Yes! I could have taken the DDs but I managed to freak them out too, although as soon as DH trotted off up the stairs they followed him. Hmm

The hamster is under the bed.

The hamster which disappeared a year ago.

Why the hell did it have to freak me out? Why did it have to chew through it's stupid bloody cage and why the hell has it reappeared AFTWR we get rid of his cage and have new hamsters?

Angry

I thought it was going to murder me!

I wish you wusses with overactive imaginations would stop watching stuff that scares you.
Raw tomatoes make me throw up, therefore I don't eat raw tomatoes.

You sat there with your front door open, waiting for your Manly Man to come home?
What about rabid dogs, random homicidal maniacs, lost zombies, the neighbours? Any passing crazed axe murderer could have WALKED RIGHT IN!

For me it was the first eposide. The man slithering out from under the bed after the victim has washed, changed into her nightdress and gone to bed...

Now that was very scary....

Fortunately I have drawers under the bed so nowhere to hide....
