And if you're a bit stinky within 72 hours perhaps you should have a wash?

I haven't seen any 72 hour ones, but I use a 48 hour one simply because it works best - I still apply it every day/twice a day though.

After 72 hours it might still be doing something, yes That's not to say they recommend it.

I shower every day but apply deodorant only twice a week because I use an antiperspirant. Much better than any deodorant, it just stops me from sweating under the arms.

Everyone uses antiperspirant! We just call it deodorant.

Isn't antiperspirant to stop you sweating and deodorant just a smelly spray to try and cover pong?!
I use 48 hours. It isn't! It lasts a day and a night unless it is hot or I exercise a lot. Me sweaty? Nah. I glow!

My husband calls it antiperspirant. I'd never buy him the non-antiperspirant stuff that just covers up the smell with another smell. I call it deodorant.

Worst long haul flight I had was 60 hours door to door - so be warned when your wheel gets a puncture on a fuelling stop in the middle of fuck knows where and you have to wait in the airport for it to be fixed .... then London is fog bound and you have to go to Manchester. Then when you get the train the bastard thing breaks down. Three times. 60 hours.

Boots are advertising a 3 day mascara (blimey, that auto-incorrected to massacre!). Who would want their eyelashes coated in mascara for 3 days? After consultant told me about what lives on your eyelashes...yuk!

Urgh. Even at festivals (normal) people usually wash within a 72 hour period.

OP you are missing the point. It doesn't mean that you only have to wash every three days but that the product works in such a way that you only have to apply it every three days.

I am usually clean at least once or twice a day, but times I have not washed in 72 hours:

Glastonbury (was 18 though so didn't care ),
As a supposedly independent patient on a particularly short staffed ward,
As a poorly new mum on my own (I lived on the floor with him for a few days because I couldn't stand up)

It happens, and I guess some people are just too busy? If you're going to be manky, at least reduce the smell. Wish I could have had 72hr deodorant then!
