Beach Hut Party for 7 yr old boy

Not sure how many boys yet, but thinking of renting a beach hut for my sons party - could do games on the beach / buckets and spades and a picnic.

Hubby thinks we will lose one! what do you think??

Also british weather in summer not always great?

Am I overly optimistic??

We've a hut and have had loads of parties for kids. One thing is strict rules about going in the sea and lots of adult supervision as seriously they get very silly near water, stupidly silly!

Do tug of war, they love it and limbo. If it's a busy public beach, try and time your party to when the church outreach people are there and if you're lucky they'll do the entertaining as they have masses of volunteers and kit on our beach! Weds evenings are always packed here with parents sitting in the huts and kids being entertained by the beach mission

Church Beach Mission???? In all my years I have never seen evangelists on the beach let alone entertaining children - mind you I do go to a dodgy beach next to nudist camp that always has funny men with binoculars ....

My boys would love it and we went to one once, but it was a house owned by grandparents that had a garden onto then beach...

I think it's a great idea, as long as you have plenty of supervising adults!

OMG you lot never heard of the United Beach Mission? they were frickin awesome! bouncy castles on the beach and boom boxes and everything, when I was a child on the beaches of Cornwall!

I have heard of beach missions. They operate in the summer on beaches. I don't know how they entertain though . Telling kids about the word

The beach mission are marvellous babysitters people. many an afternoon at 3pm has been spent happily watching them entertain my kids www.ubm.org.uk/

piglet they do the fun stuff and then they get the kids to sit and listen to a story. At that point, the local kids wander

Oh right Awks, thanks for te links, sounds great. I used to go to Baptist church when I was younger but we are nowhere near a beach here in Milton keynes

Thank goodness my kids are too old now as I've looked at their locations for 2013 and devastatingly they aren't coming here this year.

I imagine that getting hold of the beach hut will be the most difficult bit.

Oh piglet that's gutting. Sorry for hijacking Op but I think beach parties are fab. Hot dogs done in the kettle, sandcastle competition and lots of fresh air. Perfect.

I should imagine you will struggle to rent a beach hut for a day! We have beach huts for rent by the local council but they are not the best position for childrens party.

Why do you need a beach hut though? will it be ON the beach or off the promenade? Could you erect a small marquee - like the ones you get in B&Q?

Thanks - it's St Annes - new beach huts for hire, thought it would be handy for food etc. Have not seen any beach going evangelists but will watch out for them. Mostly pensioners walking dogs and the sea is about 2 miles out and not great. Thanks for your comments, still worried about weather! If it goes ahead may go into business of boys beach church parties in the rain, could be on to a winner as long as we don't lose any - boys that is, not beach huts!!
