To Think This MAY Be A Good Thing! *clutches straws*

Continuing job interview today. I'm in Australia, so it's already been and gone. Its a Sales/Marketing role in a good company with great benefits/prospects; all boxes ticked. I REALLY want this job! And I know I would be great at it.

I got through the initial phone interview 2 weeks ago (after initial application which took an hour to fill in...they are a recruitment company!), then was called in for a face to face interview.
Then I got a call asking me to the Group Assessment Day, which took place today.

There were 7 of us (2 jobs available).

All going well; I'm good in interviews/group activities (ooer) as I am confident and articulate and have strong experience in sales and marketing.

We all do a role play. (Sounds so rude, sorry.)

Two hours into it, 3 people were discreetly asked to leave as they were not suitable (they showed the other 4 of us around the main offices as they did this.)

Another 2 hours go past and we have done another role play which went very well.

Immediately after that myself and another guy (who was a very good candidate with great experience etc.) are taken into another room and told 'well done for getting to this stage (oh shit), we have all of the info we need from you and you will be contacted by Friday.' Oh shit, I'm thinking. This is not good. Gaaahhhhhh!!!!!!

The 2 other candidates are kept in the room as we leave and there are lots of 'oh crap' looks by all.

So we leave, me feeling like crap and him saying, "WTF?!" knowing he had done really well.

Ten minutes later I bump into one of the candidates outside who was kept behind. First thing he says to me is, "I think you have got it." Turns out he was kept behind to be told he is not the right fit for their company. I don't know what the other candidate was told. He seems convinced we have the jobs, but there is no way he could know that.

We weren't told that - we were only told we would be contacted by the end of this week as they had all of the info they needed.

I know the next process with this company between the Group Assessment Day and hiring is reference checking.

AIBU for trying to think this could be positive?! Dear God, please let it be so!!! Over to you, ladies... Smile

Sounds like a right fricking palaver to me. Hope it is positive for you, but they do seem to be enjoying playing their games.

Yes, bloody palaver indeed!!! I thought it was horrid when we walked back into the room and the other people were no longer there. Awful.

But oh I'm feeling better now though! I so hope this is positive.

Thank you all so much for your kind wishes of good luck!!!

Sounds like the x factor or something. Horrible. Hope you get it if you want it though.
