Now i have never smoked and I don't necessarily approve of people smoking in pregnancy. However i understand its an addiction and it must be hard to stop.
At the doctors I Saw an anti smoking poster aimed at pregnant women.
It showed a baby in an incubator with breathing tubes etc with the caption.
For the last 9 months she was on 20 a day. Now she has moved on to a pipe. (Or words to that effect)aibu to think that is abit too much.

It's shock tactics. But when you see a newborn struggling to breathe, you can understand why sometimes.

Watching your child in SCBU on a ventilator is the hardest thing in the world, so anything that can prevent that is a good thing.
Yes i completely get that smoking is hard to stop but if it just helps one person kick the habit then its ok by me.

It is true.

People shouldn't smoke near babies or children. And by that I include in a different room/window open.

Smoke if you want to smoke but don't make the kids passively smoke.

"I smoked for 19 years gave up the minute I found i decided ttc."

whoops. slipped up there Wink

OP why do you think it's too much? that's what can happen to babies if their mother's smoke whilst pregnant. what is too much about it?

When I got my positive, it was a shock because it was unplanned and we had been using contraception. I'm ashamed to say I didn't stop smoking there and then. But two days later I was in a motorway service station toilet, and there was a stop smoking poster of an unborn baby on the back of the door. I can't remember it exactly, but it was horrible, and it made me stop there and then.

Shocking pictures like that do work.

I stopped the second I found out I was pregnant (unplanned). I don't understand what's so hard about quitting for pregnant women, the smell is awful anyway, never mind when your sense of smell is heightened. If someone was smoking in the next town I felt sick, so god knows how people manage to smoke through morning sickness.

Part of me wants to say YANBU because I wouldn't want to see something like that myself, but then I'm not a smoker so it's useless to me.

Maybe they should give them out to smokers instead, but that's a bit unfeesable Shock
