Read an article about them in The Guardian this weekend and they have been around for years and everyone else in the world is aware of them and their music apart from me! And possibly my mum.

I'm a gimmer, yes?

Surely you've heard 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger'?!

Mintyy Mon 20-May-13 10:04:06

Have I?

Can you link?

Around the world, around the WORld...

I'd forgotten that fucking idiotic offering from the late 90s.

Cheers, OP.

If you've had a radio on at any point in the past 10 years, you'll almost certainly have heard some of their stuff, but that's not the same as identifying and labelling it!

Try looking on YouTube or wherever for "Harder Better Faster Stronger" or "Around the World", they'll probably sound familiar grin

I have heard of them but wouldn't know their songs you're normal wink i did think maybe they did good luck but that was basement jaxx..

Also "One More Time", and "Technologic" - you'll know that one from a car advert!

maudpringle Mon 20-May-13 10:09:43

Did one half release ' music with you' years ago?

NoelHeadbands Mon 20-May-13 10:10:02

You'll definitely know One More Time

ItsallisnowaFeegle Mon 20-May-13 10:11:15

Ahh I love Daft Punk and I love this single. A summer anthem 2013 methinks!

I'm very excited that Nile Rogers has collaborated on most of this new album. It'll be an homage to disco (I'm hoping)!

I saw Nile live in 2011 at a 'Chic' night at The Warehouse Project in Manchester and felt extremely privileged. He's such a class musician.

You can't be 'unreasonable' for not having heard of something. You might be 'uninformed'.

Mintyy Mon 20-May-13 10:23:35

No, you can be unreasonable for not having basic cultural references imvho grin.

TigOldBitties Mon 20-May-13 10:27:48

YABVU but mainly just because I love the latest song, as others have said you will probably have heard their stuff.

hokeycakey Mon 20-May-13 10:29:08

Oh my goodness have heard of them for years but I was never aware that they were absolute frickin musical geniuses(?) anyone would think it was the 2nd coming the way everyone is going on

Mintyy Mon 20-May-13 10:31:10

I just watched One More Time on YouTube and gave up after 2 minutes, but yes I had heard it before.

Is it because I am too old for the dance scene? I was 31 in 1993.

I was more a punk/Elvis Costello kind of girl.

Iwantmybed Mon 20-May-13 10:34:06

you'll know this Kanye sampled it a few years ago.

This singer from One More Time died yesterday. So sad.

FunnysInLaJardin Mon 20-May-13 10:36:50

YABU and you should be ashamed of your self. How old are you? I am 42 and know they have been around for years. And I can't wait to buy their new album because I am hip innit

Blatherskite Mon 20-May-13 10:37:05

This video is good. More for the hands than anything

meglet Mon 20-May-13 10:39:44

It's a summer anthem smile

Now we just need the summer <<flicks heating up>>

FunnysInLaJardin Mon 20-May-13 10:39:54

ah yes too old for the dance scene perhaps. I was 22 in 1993 and still love dance. Although I also fully embraced punk and psychobilly. And maud yes one half did 'music with you' yonks ago. About 15 years? Jeysus

NoelHeadbands Mon 20-May-13 10:41:46

Dance music has never been my bag (daddio) but I've always liked Daft Punk.

Think it's because they're stuff is always quite melodic

FunnysInLaJardin Mon 20-May-13 10:42:19

and love that you put Daft Punk (the singing duo) just in case everyone else were also old gimmers grin
