or "I'm going for a wee" or "He's gone for a wee" etc.

Can't you just go to the loo without announcing it, or just refer to it as "the loo".

Adults "going for a wee" is childish and ever so common! So there!

If you go without announcing it, someone always asks where you are going.

Now, I"m just off for a wee.

It's so, so childish though and makes me wince. I judge intensely anyone who announces that they're "Going for a wee", unless they're very young!

If someone asks where you're going, tell them you're going to the loo!

But I am off for a wee. Wouldn't want anyone to think I was off for a poo

"please excuse me, it has become necessary for me to go in search of a facility in which to urinate" - is that grown up enough?

My pal says she's off to shake the lettuce. I wish she'd say she's going for a wee.

DH says he's going for a bangers and mash.

Too much detail.

Actually, it's not just adults, anyone over the age of about five sounds ridiculous saying "I'm going for a wee". Ugh - so common!

Oh dear, I always say this, so many years of working with kids.
However, I have just realised my young male colleague always says loo. He's never mentioned my use of the word wee!

MIL says she is going to 'do a wee' Hmm

Just saying you're going to the loo then, if you need to. If not, don't say anything!

So I'm guessing you wouldn't like : "I'm off to the little girls' room"?

Report
VerySmallSqueak · 18/05/2013 18:54

I don't mind,'I need a wee',but I dislike 'I'm just going to do a wee'.

Subtle distinction but it makes a difference to me.

I had a colleague who said "going for a wee" and we all thought - "thanks for that!" every time she said it. She was awfully common.
