And to ask what old tv episodes are on them? I know I could do thye free trial but knowing me I would forget to cancel the direct debit & end up not really using them!

I use t'internet on my laptop and use a HDMI lead to show it on my TV screen.

Netflix has just added tons of Disney films, old good ones like Robin Hood and The Arisocats etc...

We had LoveFilm and switched to Netflix. Currently watching Dr Who, breaking bad, Jonathan creek, Spider-Man, iron man....I think Netflix catalogue is pretty good personally. It's handy because I've got a newborn so if my viewing is interrupted (often!) it'll remember where you got to in the episode. Also you can register up to 6 devices so we have ps3, both our phones, iPad and my sister's wii registered for one account.

Netflix will have the new series of Arrested Development to stream next Saturday not that I've been counting the days or anything

I have Netflix and used to have LoveFilm. I much prefer Netflix with their layout, library and amount of films and TV shows for kids. I have American Netflix on the Xbox through the TV and British online on the laptop all through the same subscription which gives a bit more choice.

We do use youtube but can't get that easily through the telly so that was why I was thinking of Netflix etc so it can come through wii. I suppose I was thinking of old things like Tenko or Dr who for ds or the first 2 series of downton abbey which I missed seeing. Not sure what dds would want. might trial one during May half term if weather carries on being awful!!!

Thanks for everybody's help!!

Are there specific shows you're looking for? I don't want to state the obvious, but don't forget to check out places like youtube. Some shows have been uploaded in parts or whole onto there so you can watch them for free.

I am basing this off a night I spent reliving my childhood watching Cities of Gold, but it's worth checking before parting with any cash.

Netflix is great lovefilm instant is beyond crap

If you don't mind going for a bit more of an expensive option try NowTV...it's the sky version of Lovefilm/Netflix although you don't need a Sky package to use it. It has a much wider variety of films and they're updated often-unlike Lovefilm and Netflix!

That said, for TV I would go for Netflix, seem to remember that they had a larger and more organised collection. Easy to navigate, etc.

I'm On the lovefilm postal, which is cheaper than streaming. I find there is a good choice although you might have to wait a while for the more popular TV series. Also it can be frustrating if you only get a couple of episodes per disk (Game of Thrones I'm looking at you).

Tried Netflix but it was rubbish for films - we'd pretty much seen everything on there.

I pay around £8 per month for four discs - more than enough for me - and this includes free streaming via a lap top of some older titles.

Suits me!

I have love film and think it's great! We watch it through the wii and it has enough to keep the dcs entertained on it. The film choice isn't brilliant but it's got enough good tv stuff to wade through - currently on season 3 of 7 of The West Wing.

Def worth a fiver a month.

BerryMojito Sat 18-May-13 10:20:04

Thinking about it, I may cancel LoveFilm and have 2 Netflix accounts to stop the arguments.....

BerryMojito Sat 18-May-13 10:18:48

Oh and theLoveFilm is instant, I'm not very good at returning DVDs wink!

D0oinMeCleanin Sat 18-May-13 10:17:09

We had both for a while, owing a mistake LoveFilm made which led them to giving me one free year with them, it was sorted really quickly and their customer services are excellent but we cancelled it after the free year because it wasn't getting used after we joined Netflix, Netflix has much better choices imo.

BerryMojito Sat 18-May-13 10:17:04

We have both grin. Love, love, love Netflix! Only issue in this house is only being allowed 2 people on at a time! Causes all sorts of arguments if one of the DCs stayed logged in a phone so nobody else can get on.

LoveFilm has some good stuff on too, although we find Netflix better for crap American TV series.

ditavonteesed Sat 18-May-13 10:14:19

I have netflix, love it, loads of boxsets of old stuff, dh has been watching old dr whos and tons of kids programs from my childhood.

likesnowflakesinanocean Sat 18-May-13 10:14:07

can anyone recommend the postal service iv currently got instant but not finding we use it much and the postal seems to be newer stuff

fluffyraggies Sat 18-May-13 10:12:51

Started with Lovefilm - then went to Netflix.

Personally found Lovefilm had poor choice and didn't fancy all the posting for the better titles.

Netflix tend be a bit slow to update their library - but we always find something to get pissed to on a Saturday night watch smile

joanofarchitrave Sat 18-May-13 10:12:33

I love Lovefilm though we probably don't get brilliant value from it, what it has maybe done is reduce the number of films we watch overall as there's never any time pressure. we're on an old deal which doesn't exist any more, which is £4 for two films a month. seem to be almost infinite numbers of tv series but we still do the dvd by post thing so it's slightly random what you get and when. presumably instant is more controllable...

Shaky Sat 18-May-13 10:12:19

*dp not do

Shaky Sat 18-May-13 10:11:37

I have lovefilm. I am currrenty watching shameless on my laptop. We get the 3d blu ray discs, do copies them so we are building up a collection of Disney films for ds.

I have a gift card for 2 months free trial to give away. Pm me if you would like it and I'll send you the code.

Xiaoxiong Sat 18-May-13 10:10:03

We've been on love film for years and rate it highly.

Currently watching through all of Buffy streaming off website as part of our standard package :-)

TigerSwallowTail Sat 18-May-13 10:06:29

I've had Netflix for about a year and a half, I love it. I had lovefilm for a while too but thought it was rubbish so cancelled.
