to be slightly addicted to AIBU?

I am a (happily) childless (gay) man.

I left a message on Mumsnet because I wanted some advice on books for my god daughter. While on, I had a quick peek at AIBU and have been addicted ever since. I always have a 20 minute browse before going to sleep.

My DCP (darling civil partner -I'm trying to start a new term) thinks that:

a. It is weird that I find it so interesting.
b. I am not welcome as I am not a mum nor female

It came to a head last night when I was crying with laughter in bed over the hamwidge thread. It was impossible to explain.

AIBU and, indeed, am I welcome?

You are very welcome, of course smile

And wait til you explore the rest of the site: it won't just be AIBU that you'll want to read!!

If you find AIBU funny, you'll be properly crying with laughter at some of the threads in Classics if you've not been in there yet!

idonthaveone Tue 14-May-13 21:08:32

Of course you are welcome tell your DCP (nice term) to read for 10 mins and see if he's not addicted

SirBoobAlot Tue 14-May-13 21:09:30

No, get out wink

It is terribly addictive. Agree with the above, check out classics, though not just before bed.

MN is awesome and isn't just for parents, y'know smile

SirBoobAlot Tue 14-May-13 21:10:31

And I like DCP, we should take that one on!

Give up the fight : You belong to us now

I'm on every day unless I'm ill (rarely) or too much is going on (sometimes). MN definitely shares some of my 'me time'!

Sparklingbrook Tue 14-May-13 21:17:48

Hello. Of course you are welcome. smile

musickeepsmesane Tue 14-May-13 21:19:10

YANBU. I agree that you should read classics too. Anything that makes me laugh the way classics does can only be a good thing. Sometimes AIBU makes me want to hide behind my computer

chocoluvva Tue 14-May-13 21:19:29

Mwahhaha - the cunning plan worked - you are in our trap...

kneedeepindaisies Tue 14-May-13 21:23:02

Hi OP.

Of course you are welcome. smile

Definitely check out classics. I agree AIBU is brilliant too!

everlong Tue 14-May-13 21:24:59

smile welcome.

Be aware though it's not always light and fluffy. Actually that'll be hardly ever.

But yes it's addictive.

Whatalotofpiffle Tue 14-May-13 21:27:28

Very welcome!! Hello, fellow addict!!

Sunnywithshowers Tue 14-May-13 21:29:51

YANBU. Sprogs not essential grin I don't have any.

I came to AIBU 2 years ago and have never left.

bookforgoddaughter Tue 14-May-13 21:29:52

Slightly embarrassed that I uploaded this thread twice and have two conversations going on. Will improve!

DCP cannot believe that I have posted this thread. He thinks it is something to do with the glass of white. Outrageous slur.

Badvoc Tue 14-May-13 21:33:08

You are very welcome.

Sit here by me smile

Badvoc Tue 14-May-13 21:33:33

Check it the classics thread.
You will weep with laughter

CheckpointCharlie Tue 14-May-13 21:33:37

Pop into the Drunk Thread on Friday night too, see you there or be square.

BlatantRedhead Tue 14-May-13 21:35:31

I am a childless 20-something and discovered Mumsnet specifically AIBU a few years ago. Like you, became totally addicted. DP thinks it's weird. I think he's jealous that Mumsnet offers me something he doesn't wink

SirBoobAlot Tue 14-May-13 21:37:16

Your DCP hasn't been roped in. Yet. Give it time wink

BlatantRedhead Tue 14-May-13 21:38:05

chat is frankly brilliant too, as is Mumsnet Classics - ZOMBIE PLANS!

MadBusLady Tue 14-May-13 21:38:07

There is no escape. You are ours now.

See here, a thread of spooky things.

Molehillmountain Tue 14-May-13 21:38:20
