I'm pretty sure that was actually a thread a while ago, and she's nicked it from mumsnet!

I thought her views on porn were spot on but she ignored some pretty big issues, her suggestion that they stop having babies was rather cruel and almost excused the husbands betrayal.

I don't really know much about her; but found myself skim reading. Her writing style is boring, huh?

And yes, everyone would get better advice at Mumsnet Grin

She works. The view on porn she puts forward is actually very interesting and probably accurate but she comes at it from the wrong angle.

She should have added that he cheated on her so bi, straight or polka dot yellow she should LTB.

Also while I agree porn images can bypass rational barriers she almost makes out that we are innocent bystanders to this. Child abuse and rape can become acceptable, really? Should make us stop watching not be an excuse.

Also she lost the morality of the argument with the clear meagre that "making babies" has caused the relationship to breakdown and the poor menz do funny things Hmm

Awww, poor diddums can't handle his partner's pregnancy, so plays away in a fucking sauna.

Oh I hope she LTB and gets herself to the GUM clinic.

I fell asleep reading it.

I don't fall asleep reading MN threads.

Yes, she is far too soft on him. The baby comment was fair enough though- no point carrying on having kids with a shitty husband.

I tell you what though- if you want to read some utterly crap advice, try Pamela Stephenson's column. Total bilge, every time.

Her writing style comes across as absolute navel gazing drivel... I cant bear reading it.

It's very odd to suggest her husband is fucking men in saunas because he can't deal with fatherhood.

It doesn't read as if she was coming at it from the, "don't procreate with this inadequate" angle. It seemed more, "hold off until it's all sorted, as babies stressful, especially for your poor delicate husband."

You do not change your sexuality by watching gay porn though.. you are either gay, or bi, or straight and no amount of porn viewing will change what you are.

Have never liked the Mariella Frostrup problem page. I think it's a mistake to give her a whole page, as she has to fill it somehow, and usually fills it by writing about herself. Also, I think her advice is quite often wide of the mark - she's not qualified to do this, after all.

I prefer Annalisa Barbieri in the Saturday Guardian, as she always talks to an expert about the problem first, so at least there is some sense that this is an authoritative answer.

Yes, on re-reading (God it's painful), you're right MrsG. Yeah, shit advice, basically.

I usually like her but this one was crap. I can't believe she diagnosed the husband as 'probably not gay' despite him
A) visiting gay saunas
B) watching gay porn
C) sleeping with men

How many straight men do this, hm?

Agree OP, she would get better advice on MN. But as far as I could see, as I got bored halfway through Frostrup's me, me, me rambling's and ended up skimming, she wasn't actually given any advice.

Don't read the Guardian so never read Frostrup's column before but if this is a typical example I imagine she would have to pinch her ideas from places like MN, as someone said up thread, as I can't imagine why anyone in RL would bother writing to her to actually ask for her opinion.

I was just about to post a thread about MF. She gives really awful advice every week, IMO. I've posted a few times recommending the letter writer should come onto MN.
