AIBU?

To make a lime drizzle cake with brown sugar?

I promised DD we would make lemon drizzle cake after I picked her up.

There weren't any lemons in the shop, so we bought limes instead.

Then I discovered while weighing everything out, that we didn't have enough caster sugar, so we had to use 1/3 demerera.

Cake is in the oven now.

We only have demerera left to make the sugar drizzle bit on the top. I thought it might work well, as limes and brown sugar are a venerable combination in a Caipirinha.

DD(5 yo) was upset and said it wouldn't work and be very yucky.

AIBU to go ahead, or should I phone DH and ask him to buy white sugar on the way home?

Just punch it, it'll be fine...

it will be delish, send me a slice. sugar may take a bit longer to dissolve however but will have an even nicer taste that white. I do orange drizzle too sometimes with brown sugar mmmmm sandwiched with marmalade too.

And after you punch it, don't try to get in it's good books by giving it chocolate.

Chocolate Lime is Satan's Work I tell you..................

Sounds nice to me Grin. DD will get over the shock.

I went for it and it was delicious! Grin I think it is actually even better than the lemon version, although the topping is less crunchy. DD was completely converted too, and DH said it was the best cake we'd ever made (mind you, he has had to put up with some dire, pancaked burnt offerings in the past).
