AIBU?

Fecking pound shops!

I am 40 years old. I know I should know better, but, I bought 6 solar garden lights today.

Obviously they were £1 each. I planted them strategically to light up our garden path. Only one out of the six works,

AIBU to think that £6 for one light is expensive and should I take the non working ones back?

Why wouldn't you take them back?

Give them 24 hours outside. They've probably not had enough sun to charge them.

But if they don't, take them back.
If they don't light then they're not fit for purpose.

Ok, I'll give them until 10 pm tomorrow and if they are not all lit, they are going back.

I'm a great big wuss and rubbish at complaining

I took mine back as they didn't work and was very embarrassed when the assistant pointed out a small switch that had to be turned on for them to charge.

I bought more expensive ones, but thd batteries that came with them were rubbish. Replaced them and they worked perfectly.

When i got my (cheapy) set i didn't realise you had to pull a little plastic strip out to allow the battery to connect with the bulb and wondered why the lights wouldn't light Blush

I get mine for 89p from B&M and test them in the shop (by covering the top with your hand, after turning the switch on).which recreates dusk.

Anything mechanical or electrical probably not good to buy from pound shops I've decided. I bought a few umbrellas that fall to pieces on a breeze ...

Dying to know if there is a plastic strip....

OMG, I am so stupid.

There was no plastic strip but......

I took one apart and only found an on/off switch inside the plastic casing!

Funnily enough, only one light was switched on. Blush Blush Blush

And dickhead of the week award goes to.....ME!

This is why I love MN, I learn something new every day.

I thought I just stuck the lamp in the ground and hey presto, there is light.

I love things like this.

DH used to work for Comet.

He had very aggressive people coming back to him shouting that their brand new kettle didn't have a power lead. He opened the lid and the customer muttered thanks and scuttled fro the shop.
