AIBU?

To think this driver should have reversed

I got into a stupid impasse with another driver in Marley Park in Dublin this afternoon. It was absolutely packed and, after driving around the car park 3 times, finally saw a car reversing out. Another driver who was leaving the car park came up the same lane against the arrow so basically one of us had to reverse. I wanted to stay where I was to make sure of the space so gestured to her that it was one way. She just sat there. So I got out of the car and went over and said it was one way and I was waiting for that space. She told me to reverse and she could then drive past me. I said she should reverse as it was one way and she was going in the wrong direction. She refused and I got back into the car absolutely furious, reversed with difficulty as there were people walking behind me and, when she then came forward and drew level with me, instead of saying 'thanks' or 'sorry about that' she just said in a school teachery voice 'now, was that so difficult'. I said 'would it have been so difficult to follow the arrows' and she just repeated what she'd said while a child in the back, about 3 or 4 shouted something at me.

I know I should have kept my cool and just reversed back but if you deliberately to against the arrow to save yourself time surely you should be the one prepared to move if a car is coming in the correct direction? Apart from anything else if, in reversing, I had hit another car turning into the lane, I would have been liable as I was going in the wrong direction and a car turning in wouldn't have expected to see me.

AIBU to think she was really rude and arrogant and to just want to let off steam about her.

Yes. She was both rude and arrogant. And stupid. Just see her as the fool she is and forget about her forever. She's not worth any more time in your head.
