to think if DH is as ill as he claims, he should just go to bed

and let me watch Homes Under The Hammer in peace.

He's ill. He's lying all over the couch groaning and it's getting on my wick.

He's even bought a duvet downstairs

Just go to bed already!!!!!

You could not be more reasonable if you tried. There is nothing worse than an "ill" man who is well enough to lie on the sofa groaning.

HorryIsUpduffed Thu 25-Apr-13 10:05:17

Yanbu.

mrsjay Thu 25-Apr-13 10:05:52

do you have a tv in your room id go and watch your programme there grin DH wasn't well the other night he was humphing and whinging on the sofa I left him to it, I am if you are go to bed camp just do it what is the point of being ill on the sofa and annoying people

Sugarice Thu 25-Apr-13 10:06:09

He's brought the duvet down shock ooh he's looking for tea and sympathy off you then and to be his fetcher and carrier. grin

CajaDeLaMemoria Thu 25-Apr-13 10:06:17

I'm ill. I've been in bed forever. Being in bed isn't helping. I've got up and got dressed, and I'm sitting on the bed at the moment. I'll go sit on the sofa in a bit. I'm fed up, and feel rubbish, and bored of bed.

No one else is here, though, and I haven't taken the duvet anywhere. Maybe I'm being slightly less unreasonable?

freddiefrog Thu 25-Apr-13 10:09:10

We do have a TV upstairs, but it's little, and the reception is crap

Duvet downstairs is definately the worst part of it. I have a thing about duvets downstairs.

Caja - you're on your own, you're not impeding anyone's Homes Under The Hammer viewing - you're definately not unreasonable grin

mrsjay Thu 25-Apr-13 10:11:47

maybe suggest he lies down in bed and you will bring him up a cup of tea or something

Justforlaughs Thu 25-Apr-13 10:14:46

If my children are too ill to go to school then they have a tv ban and stay in bed for the entire morning, if not the whole day! If I am too ill to go to work I go to bed asap and stay there, same rules apply to my DH. YANBU

doritosmonster Thu 25-Apr-13 10:18:14

When my DH is ill he carries on like a martyr but just moans the whole time, and makes pathetic little groaning noises. If I suggest that he perhaps - shock horror - takes a paracetamol, or goes and has a lie down, he looks at me as if I've grown a second head. And then carries on moaning.

YANBU at all. Can you go out at all to escape his man-flu moaning?

mrsjay Thu 25-Apr-13 10:19:38

oh yes DH drags himself out to work sighing and acting like he is on his last legs gets right on my wick

juneybean Thu 25-Apr-13 10:19:51

Yanbu but did you hear the first village they were in, it was pronounced boden, I had a little chuckle

ImTooHecsyForYourParty Thu 25-Apr-13 10:20:30

YABU

If he goes upstairs, he won't be able to groan and be ill at you.

He will have to bang on the floor periodically and call you upstairs so he can tell you it hurts.

grin

likesnowflakesinanocean Thu 25-Apr-13 10:20:57

I am downstairs on the sofa with duvet. I hate pyjama days but I had an operation yesterday and feel like a bag of crap

mrsjay Thu 25-Apr-13 10:21:39

Dh said OUCH the other , are you ok YES YES IM FINE oh alright a few minutes later OW , whats the matter, nothing sigh , and then he said i have a slight twinge in my back, I have never said OW loudly to a twinge

mrsjay Thu 25-Apr-13 10:22:19

Yanbu but did you hear the first village they were in, it was pronounced boden, I had a little chuckle

she probably didnt tbh what with all the moaning and groaning grin

Flobbadobs Thu 25-Apr-13 10:24:23

DH was ill over the weekend so he did the obvious thing and did some gardening...
He came in when he had finished and poured himself onto the sofa groaning and coughing like a 60 a day man, fell asleep there and came to bed at about 3am. I just left him there and got on with it!
Rinse and repeat on Sunday only in a bad mood, the rest of us went out for the day...

freddiefrog Thu 25-Apr-13 10:24:23

I'm missing it, I'm gutted!

HUTH is my guilty secret, I can't tell him I watch it grin

I'm going out in a little while so he can groan to his hearts content.

ImTooHecsyForYourParty Thu 25-Apr-13 10:32:58

except he won't.

People don't groan if they don't have an audience. grin

Set up something to record him.

You'll see grin

StuntGirl Thu 25-Apr-13 10:42:35

I hate groaners, and I'm one of them! I have to send myself off to bed when I'm ill even if I'm well enough for the sofa just to stop myself annoying everyone in the house.

YANBU, he's being an inconsiderate wuss!

mrsjay Thu 25-Apr-13 10:44:05

if I am honest i am a bit of a winger that is probably why i go to bed

quesadilla Thu 25-Apr-13 10:45:26

Oh God don't get me started on this. It brings out a really awful, passive aggressive side to me as well because you don't want to be actively critical of someone with man flu/a phantom bad back in case it turns out to be real.

mrsjay Thu 25-Apr-13 10:47:54

i seethe quesdilla

landofsoapandglory Thu 25-Apr-13 10:54:32

I'm ill. I'm in bed, DH is downstairs doing the housework. If I need something I use the intercom on the phone, it makes a loud shrill until he picks if up. I might be using it more than is necessary!
