So I'm browsing in a clothes shop, DD spits her dummy out and it falls onto the floor and before I can grab it some random old woman picks it up, WIPES IT ON HER JACKET and goes, 'Here you go, lovely!' and sticks it straight back into her mouth!

Did she think wiping it on her manky stained fleecy cat-hair covered jacket was going to magically clean the germs off of it?

PFB or majorly BOAK?

Wtf that is disgusting!!

PregnantPain Wed 24-Apr-13 15:04:54

YANBU if a baby drops dummy near me and mum hasn't seen, I pick it up and hand it to her to deal with not just plonk it back in child's mouth, I know that's what I'd prefer so I do that

GruffaloAteMySocks Wed 24-Apr-13 15:06:20

Oh dear I didn't mend to offend you, dearie even though I'm a scouser wink

How old is baby?

GruffaloAteMySocks Wed 24-Apr-13 15:10:44

She's 11 weeks going on 12.

MansView Wed 24-Apr-13 15:15:18

ooh...germs...the poor bairn can't be exposed to germs can it?

MrsTerryPratchett Wed 24-Apr-13 15:15:22

At 11 weeks YANBU. DD still has hers at 2 <tears hair out> and now she can rub it on goats and I couldn't care less.

GruffaloAteMySocks Wed 24-Apr-13 15:18:22

MansView My DD is not an 'it'.

Gerrof Wed 24-Apr-13 15:19:58

I love the word manky, haven't heard it for ages.

Gerrof Wed 24-Apr-13 15:20:37

Ignore mansview, it's a knob.

That hamburger is supposed to say yanbu btw hmm

Crinkle77 Wed 24-Apr-13 15:21:11

Ew yanbu. Why would she wipe it on her jacket? yuck

GruffaloAteMySocks Wed 24-Apr-13 15:21:32

That's an amazing auto-correct lol.

Gerrof Wed 24-Apr-13 15:25:13

I know, how the hell did it turn to hamburger? grin

Thumbtack Wed 24-Apr-13 15:30:39

hamburger!! pmsl

yanbu at 11 weeks . .

MansView Wed 24-Apr-13 15:32:17

re: - My DD is not an 'it'.

sorry - i meant no disrespect, I didn't know the gender, I'm still getting used to the acronyms on here... smile

but going back to my point - back in the 70s we were exposed too all manner of outdoor 'germs' and activities, just seems that today's kids are wrapped up in cotton wool too much... sad

Thumbtack Wed 24-Apr-13 15:32:43

Actually yanbu whatever age - its not up to a stranger to put something in your childs mouth, she should have handed it back to you.

GruffaloAteMySocks Wed 24-Apr-13 15:32:46

Gosh, I really want a hamburger now! grin

IneedAyoniNickname Wed 24-Apr-13 15:33:41

Pmsl at auto correct of yanbu to hamburger!
Plus I read her age as 11 going on12, not months. Now that would be pfb! grin

GruffaloAteMySocks Wed 24-Apr-13 15:35:05

Oh god, can you imagine an 12 year old with a dummy? There was a trend in my school when I was around 15 to walk around with a dummy in your mouth, looked ridiculous!

Gerrof Wed 24-Apr-13 15:35:20

I wouldn't care if the baby was 11 months, but 11 weeks think it is understandable to be a bit wtf about this,

Woman probably mean to to be helpful but it would have been better to give it to you first for a quick wipe.

miffybun73 Wed 24-Apr-13 15:35:30

Incredibly manky, makes me feel sick just thinking about it <shock>

FattyMcChubster Wed 24-Apr-13 15:35:41

Mans view- back in the 70's people did a lot of things that people would be shock about now.
Just because it happened then doesn't mean its right.
