Putting away the clean laundry with OH and come across one of his socks that has been through the wash several times.
He begs me not to throw it away, says that it has life left in it. In the end, we agree i force him to let Mumsnet decide.

So Mumsnet, what shall be the fate of this sock?

The Offending Article

NOTE: This sock has just come out of the wash and is, theoretically clean

Dingit- I think that's the problem. Too much life in it!

MoonlightandRoses Sat 20-Apr-13 21:49:42

wine for DH - I'm sure it was tough for him, but it was the best thing all round really. Now, just as long as the sock never saw Nightmare on Elm Street grin grin

dingit Sat 20-Apr-13 21:48:59

No! It's got years of life in it!

The final results

It was a simple ceremony.

If you listened through OH's quiet sobs you could hear the screams as a portal to hell opened and welcomed a new member.

(The picture does not show the colour of the smoke - which was MURKY BROWN - grim!!!)

I know MrH's has already been thru the wash but still....

Let him bring it back to life (it looks post-mortem to me so good luck with that). If he's a touch of Dr Frankestein about him then all is good.

If not: let him wear it one last time. No point in throwing away 'clean' clothes.

Then it has to go.

MoonlightandRoses Sat 20-Apr-13 20:30:25

Even better - it can keep its relative company on the looooooong journey they are about to go on... grin

TheSeventhHorcrux Sat 20-Apr-13 20:29:05

Oh no, we found its brother.

And it makes this sock look spring-fresh...

ClaraOswald Sat 20-Apr-13 20:02:58

Does this sock even HAVE a pair?

notsoyoniface Sat 20-Apr-13 19:55:57

I have to say that I am with your dh on this. I have work socks that just feel nicer especially as I am on my feet all day these socks are years old and have molded to my foot shape. Get him to bleach the socks, so they come up white again.

RhondaJean Sat 20-Apr-13 19:48:50

If there were two of them I might say save it, why ruin another pair of socks but as there is only one it is useless anyway!

MoonlightandRoses Sat 20-Apr-13 19:45:10

Mixed vote here - I am in the 'yes, burn it so it can't come back for you in the night' camp and DH took a look and said, 'but it's a perfectly good sock...' (there is a reason why I am the sock purchaser in this household).

He wants the sock. You don't. Therefore... Tell him to buy some stain remover and scrub it himself.

I used this ( to get some rather similar-looking socks clean last week. And it worked.

ClaraOswald Sat 20-Apr-13 19:25:23

Burn it.

helenthemadex Sat 20-Apr-13 19:23:35

fengirl1 Sat 20-Apr-13 19:21:23

shockers Sat 20-Apr-13 19:07:32

Is the other one as bad, or is this a lone sock?

Euphemia Sat 20-Apr-13 18:59:52

Flowery grin Dobby was happy about Harry's minging old the sock!

TheFallenNinja Sat 20-Apr-13 18:58:34

Fuck me. That looks like its went through a lambing season.

Floweryhat Sat 20-Apr-13 18:42:18

I thought this was going to be a Dobby thread <disappointed>

Do not lb that article at any downtrodden creatures. Cremation is too good for it.

PistachioTruffle Sat 20-Apr-13 18:41:00

Eww! It needs to go, show it no mercy!

ouryve Sat 20-Apr-13 18:32:48

holidaysarenice Sat 20-Apr-13 18:31:31

I will give your husband mercy for considering it.
