to think that dog owners should pick up the entire shit?

I've seen this a few times in the last few weeks.

Dog shits. Owner gets bag and picks up main body of excrement. Bits are left behind. They walk on.

Seriously, if you have an animal that can't do a solid poo, you need to toilet it in your own grounds or take a little bottle of water or something. People can still stand in the residue. It is disgusting.

Well I always pick up after my dogs but you should live in my village op then you would have something to moan about .... bloody horse riders on pavement all through the village and believe me horses can do a much bigger pile of poo than my 2 dogs ... try steering a pushchair round a pile of steaming horse shit angry

DreamingOfTheMaldives Thu 18-Apr-13 22:56:18

Drag my dog into the road just as he's about to shit?! Drag my dog into a narrow road that gets a lot of traffic where he might be injured, just so a tiny smear of shit doesn't remain on the pavement after I've picked up after him (not that any does remain as he has solid poo thankfully).

Are you for real?!

The sort of dog owners who pick up as much of their pooch's shit as possible are the sort who will also worm their dogs - they are not the problem.

I HATE dog poo and get really angry when I'm having to clean utility off my toddlers' shoes or see it on the main path to school.

My view is, if you decide to have a dog, clean up after it! Dirty bastards! How would they feel if I let my kids do their business outside their house?

MidniteScribbler Fri 19-Apr-13 02:09:15

Just curious that of how many of these people who think that dog owners should polish every blade of grass after their dogs defecates are the same people who own cats that they let roam the suburb and crap in other people's yards?

Kytti Fri 19-Apr-13 02:49:09

But if it's a bit soft/runny whatever it's going to be left.

You choose to have the dog, everlong we didn't. Clearly you're one of those people who are not responsible dog-owners.

Bring back licensing. Introduce more checks. Poor dog-owners infuriate me.

-Why don't dog owners bring along a little pot to shove under the dog's bum as soon as he starts to squat? Why should any part of it ever end up on the pavement?-

My parents do exactly this with their great dane - except they have a bucket instead of a little pot :D

Saves getting poo all over their garden too!

Nice to see a few active poo threads this morning hmm

theodorakisses Fri 19-Apr-13 11:37:44

I am going to get flamed and I don't care, this isn't really aimed at this OP in particular, actually not really but some of the comments are ridiculous.
Here goes:
I am so bloody bored of dog shit threads, who on earth really thinks so much about a few turds enough to post on a public forum. I think it shows the most staggering display of self righteousness, along with a very sad attempt at superiority. For fuck's sake, it's a bit of dog shit. Had a bad day? feeling a bit shit about yourself? never mind, post a dog shit thread, it will make you feel all warm and fuzzy. Or perhaps get a hobby.
Incidentally, I object to mummies leaving shitty nappies in cafe toilets, allowing their (I am sure perfectly nice) teenagers to hang around in childrens areas and make them too intimidating for others to use, and allow their sticky bogey encrusted handed toddlers to wipe them on the leather starbucks sofas. I also think the drunken pricks who used to piss in my garden every single night en route home from the pub are vile pathetic little idiots.
I would rather have a dog, a few turds and hairs, a grubby sofa than have to know these people in real life. Thank God for Lurchers and the internet.
Rant over.

Well said theodora grin

Feminine Fri 19-Apr-13 12:14:13

theodora yep lovely...

Anyway, most of us that object to it do so because it is dangerous

Toddler shoes have to be written off, as the shit grinds in to every crease.

Its not just a pain , its a genuine worry.

To make a whole post inferring that op ( and those in agreement)were being petty is just mean and a bit ignorant.

I agree with Theodora and I have lost count of the amount of times my kids and I have stepped in cat shit, we have an epidemic in my neighbourhood, in the summer sat in the garden it's all I can bloody smell, they shit everywhere in my garden and on my gravel drive, flower beds my kids footballs get covered in it,

dog shit, I think one of my kids have only ever stepped in it maybe twice in 15 years!

But yes dog owners should pick up their dogs mess!

ChasingDogs Fri 19-Apr-13 12:31:02

There was me, thinking I was doing the right thing picking up after my dog. Turns out I should have been cordoning off the area while I went to work with disinfectants.

On the subject of traces of poo. You know when you go into a public toilet and you can smell shit? Smells are particle based. You have the poo of a stranger in your nose.

Feminine Fri 19-Apr-13 12:44:10

you have the poo of a stranger in your nose

Its not going to turn me blind though is it?

theodorakisses Fri 19-Apr-13 12:44:58

No but leaving your shitty baby nappies on the hand wash basin might. I am amazed at the number of middle class fussy mummies who do this.

Feminine Fri 19-Apr-13 12:45:13

I'm sorry though, after seeing that in bold.

Its really made me grin

Feminine Fri 19-Apr-13 12:46:15

theodora...not me though.

I clean up all types of poo!

Not fussy....

ChasingDogs Fri 19-Apr-13 13:08:45

It won't send you blind, but just think, the next time you decide to breath through your mouth to avoid the smell...

(sorry, I'll stop now, heh)

Feminine Fri 19-Apr-13 13:10:37

chasing do you know, I've never done that.

Since being a small girl , I convinced myself the smell would end up in my mouth! grin

ChasingDogs Fri 19-Apr-13 13:20:13

Hmm, not tasty!

I went through a phase of trying not to breath at all if there was a hint of poo in the air. Eventually I had to decide between the shame of asphyxiating with my pants down, on the bowl, mid wee (which would have made my mother furious); or the ignoble suffering of a stranger's poo in my nose. sad

I'm still here, but my faith in humanity has never quite recovered.

theodorakisses Fri 19-Apr-13 13:21:17

Is smelling one's own farts ok? actually my little foster pup does some fairly spectacular ones, sometimes I can't help myself.

Feminine Fri 19-Apr-13 13:43:28

Yes. theodora you go right ahead! wink

Feminine Fri 19-Apr-13 13:45:25

chasing you SO need to change your MN nickname!

Youhavethepooofastrangerinyournose has such a ring about it!
