To wonder if Joey Essex Towie has learning difficulties?

Apologies if this is well known, I don't really follow it. Just watching Celebrity Juice (I know) and they're obviously taking the mickey out of this guy Joey. Now I don't know if he really is as dense as he's making out to be or whether its an act and he's know for pretending to be like that, or whether he genuinely has learning difficulties?

He just correctly answered the question 'how many sides has a rectangle got' and 'what country borders Wales' and he seemed genuinely thrilled that he got the answers right.

Is he really that daft or does he have learning problems? I genuinely don't know. And for some irrational reason am now concerned. confused

I think hes just a bit thick and puts it on A LOT more! Theres no way he didnt know how many sides a rectangle had, surely!? confused

HoHoHoNoYouDont Tue 16-Apr-13 23:27:02

He's just thick.

HoHoHoNoYouDont Tue 16-Apr-13 23:27:43

In fact the Adam & Eve bit was cringeworthy.

Still18atheart Tue 16-Apr-13 23:30:44

I'm with Squirrel he's thick and puts a lot on and it's just part of his act

He probably didn't have a v good education and from the blocks of towie didn't grow up thinking it was important.

And he is thick

He's got learning difficulties apparently, yes. Friend went to school with his sister, and said Joey went to a non-mainstream specialist school for children with special educational needs. He's a bloody amazing example of how well someone can do (own shop, fashion line etc) even though they struggled in school.

Well yes, and a little help from a tv program.

Not knocking him, good luck to him, but never seen anyone so proud of knowing so little!

His mum committed suicide when he was 10. Very sad.

SkinnybitchWannabe Wed 17-Apr-13 07:25:52

Hes a prat. cannot stand the programme. Hes probably earnt a fortune from acting so bloody thick.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 Wed 17-Apr-13 07:28:18 the thread..someone said they know he went to special school.

You would hope all the comments about him being "thick" and pretending might stop after that.

CookieLady Wed 17-Apr-13 07:35:51

Actually he attended a mainstream school - West Hatch High School, in Chigwell. He was never the sharpest tool. Bless him.

Rosesforrosie Wed 17-Apr-13 07:38:34 the thread..someone said they know he went to special school.

Yes, but he actually went to mainstream school.

CouthySaysEatChoccyEggs Wed 17-Apr-13 07:43:33

Going to Mainstream school doesn't mean that you don't have fairly severe LD's you know. My DD has quite bad LD's, 2-4 years behind in most areas, but she is still in MS. Joey Essex does have LD's, and is my DD's hero - she says if he can have his own shop then there's no reason why she can't in the future.

I'm not overly keen on him, but he is proving to be an inspiration to my DD, so I can't knock him too much!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 Wed 17-Apr-13 07:47:57

Well I assume the friend who went to school with his sister may have got schools.mixed up but is probably right that he had a learning disability. .so would be nice to ease up a bit.

stainesmassif Wed 17-Apr-13 07:52:45

I think he's lovely - what he lacks in general knowledge he makes up for in charisma.

D0oinMeCleanin Wed 17-Apr-13 07:54:10

At our secondary we had a special unit for people with learning difficulties, so you could go to a mainstream school and have severe learning difficulties and need extra help.

ThreeWheelsGood Wed 17-Apr-13 08:39:33

So if it's well-known he has LDs, why were they making fun of how "thick" he is on Celebrity Juice? That's awful.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 Wed 17-Apr-13 08:45:38

It doesn't see to be well known

ThreeWheelsGood Wed 17-Apr-13 08:46:31

ok, known to the TV producers I bet.

shellbu Wed 17-Apr-13 08:52:41

yanbu but i think hes just very naive .

AnaisB Wed 17-Apr-13 09:05:56

Confused by comments that he doesn't have learning disabilities he's just "thick."

What does "thick" mean and why is it ok to use it as an insult?

Rosesforrosie Wed 17-Apr-13 09:08:59

To clarify my position because I feel like that last post of mine could come off badly . I have no idea if he has LDs or not, and without the facts I'm not sure it's right that we assume one way or the other.

dopeysheep Wed 17-Apr-13 09:16:28

Agree with AnaisB.
Why is it ok to sneer at soneone for being 'thick'?
People can't help their IQ can they?
Ignorance is a different matter though.

According to a friend who knows him he is even denser in Rl -bless him grin
