As my MIL said (about young men whose underwear shows above their trousers), we should just be grateful for the underwear.

I don't think half of them even notice.

6/7ish years ago a friend was walking behind me and she said really loudly - are you wearing pink pants??

Yep I was. And no I had no idea they were on show. Cringe.

Never worn leggings again.

I have many pairs if leggings, the thin ones mainly. I would never wear them without my arse been covered. I wouldn't put people through the experience of seeing my tired looking knickers Grin

YANBU to not want to see it. YABU to be offended but I think you're just making a point and aren't ACTUALLY offended.
I can't stand it either. In fact every time I'm with DH and I spot someone wearing see-through leggings instead of trousers, I launch into a diatribe which usually begins "I wonder if she knows they're not trousers and they're see-through".
I'm also amazed how many of them wear really crappy multipack-type white big knickers (like I wear) underneath. Surely if you're wearing see-through leggings intentionally, you'd make a bit of an effort on the underwear front?

Lol!maybe im spreading awareness without a petition!

I think some people have no idea how thin they are!

Saw a girl on the bus the other day. Just a bare bottom really, with a thin navy blue film stretched across it. Blimey.

I genuinely don't know if it's done on purpose sometimes. There's a Mum at school who wears leggings with short tops and they're not just slightly see through, they're ridiculous. They are sort of stretched to fraying point in places and you can see her knickers plain as anything down to colour, pattern, weave etc. But how can she not know?

I don't find it offensive, nor do I laugh at or ridicule her but I do wonder WHY.

I think most people don't realise how see-through their leggings have gone around the bum area - the material is less stretched around the knees/shins etc so they prob have no idea and would be mortified to know!

I suppose it would be appropriate to say to someone, by way of conversation, at the school gate 'oooh I love your stripey knickers, are they M&S?'

Report
JollyPurpleGiant · 16/04/2013 14:33

This is why leggings should be avoided at all costs.

they make me look like a carrot

crypes · 16/04/2013 14:37

It would be inappropriate to say anything and thin leggings over big bouncy bottoms are not against the law although I think the wearers are unconsciously ' looking for a shag ' or ' looking for a man' because it does look a tad promiscuous .

this is what mirrors are for, and curtains that you open so you don't have to get dressed in the dark.

not a pretty sight whatever the size of the wearer. Nor are thongs appearing over badly-fitting jeans (wince) or the trousers-halfway-down-backsides look.

not offensive, just laughable.

This is why i wear 2 pairs of black leggings one over the other.

Oh, and a top/jumper that covers my bottam!

LimitedEditionLady · 16/04/2013 14:47

Yeah i would only wear them with a long time, id have to be pretty pleased with my ass to want to show it everyone!

Yuk, this is one of my pet hates too. If I'm out with DH and we spot one we always say 'Oh dear, forgot to put her skirt on again'. Given that some of these leggings are as thin as tights it just looks as though they haven't finished getting dressed.

Report
ShadowStorm · 16/04/2013 14:54

Maybe people just don't realise how revealing the leggings can be?

My particular hate is the flesh coloured leggings that make it look at first glance as if the wearer has gone out wearing nothing on their bottom half by mistake.

But I wouldn't go so far as to describe it as offensive.

If you can see it, is it actually underwear or part of the ensemble?

Report
LimitedEditionLady · 16/04/2013 16:11

fallen angle i dont think it is unless they really do know....its not like they are wearing a top to match the offending undergarment but presumably when you can see your leg skin through the front of your leggings you might presume the back is also like this?
