AIBU?

To be gutted that I can't go to see One Direction on Friday?

I have One Direction tickets for Friday.
I also have an illness/disability which means I'm not really well enough to go.
I bought the tickets, DD didn't ask for them, they were more for me, they were bought over a year ago, but of course she wants to go too.

If I take her, I might get ill, or panicky, or just not manage and have to leave, which means DD misses out, so I have to accept I can't go, and a friend will take DD.

I love Harry Sad

Will your DD want to go without you?

I'm so sorry to hear this, Netto. I have a very similar thing - taking dd to see One Direction on wednesday, and was very worried I wouldn't manage it (think we have similar conditions, lung disease?) - so a friend has offered to take dd and her friend if I can't make it, and has also offered to take us to the venue and wait for us so I can just go in and sit down. Is there anyone who could do something similar? I totally sympathise - as you well know it's a gutting feeling when you are so looking forward to something :(

Yanbu.

DD does want to go, though she'd rather go with me.
I asked if she'd rather we sell the tickets (they are worth a lot!), but she wants to go, which is fine.

My friend or her DD will take her.

I just don't think I can chance it and possibly let DD down, it's just gutting as I've been looking forward to it for ages. and I love Harry

Yes, Madhairday lung issues-brittle asthma.
No one else I know drives, and I got an email today telling me that you can't leave the gig at all and then get back in, so I couldn't even go out to cool down/sort out my breathing etc.

Would your friend act as a back up, so you can decide a couple of hours beforehand if you want to chance it, or would she need more notice than that?
Have you asked the venue directly if you can have some sort of a pass for medical reasons, or is that a general security rule?

Sad I'm going on Friday. Earplugs bought. My friend and I both have Fibromyalgia and would have liked it to be 11am instead as we'll be tired and we have to get the train home x

I took a couple of kids to see 1D for the matinee at the O2 last month. It was a great concert and I was really impressed by the facilities in place for disabled 1D-ers.

Fab concert. I took earplugs but didn't use them.

What I thought was weird though (my first concert in 20 years) was that all the girls spent the whole time filming the concert on their phones and screaming rather than actually watching it.

Had a fab time. What a shame you can't go. I'm so sorry.

Haha Euphemia

When I took dd to Little Mix in Jan, my friend asked why I was sitting down. But I got a better view on the girl in front's phone than standing up being height restricted.

Grin Groovee that'll be me on Wednesday

Anyone else going to the LG on Weds?

I hadn't thought to ask for disabled access seats, as I'm not in a wheelchair - do they still do them, does anyone know? Might be an option for Netto as well esp if they will give a pass. Our seats are way back in one of the corner sections. At least we have seating!!

Earplugs indeed a good idea....

I had assumed you'd need to book the wheelchair platform when booking the tickets?
I only got my chair last week and I doubt it will fit in my car, plus DD is still learning to push me and it'll be so busy I don't know that she'd manage.
I think I just have to accept it this time and hope I can get tickets next time.
DD will still get to go and she can video a few minutes for me.

Ring the venue and explain you only just got your wheelchair etc and see if they can help you out, nothing ventured nothing gained and all that, if it turns out you can't go at least you tried, fingers crossed for you

Definitely ring! Big venues are much better nowadays at helping customers with disabilities, give them the chance to help you out.

Think of Harry Grin

Harry looks like a young Jagger. Which is how I justify having an entirely unsuitable crush on him.

Netto, definitely ring the SECC and see if they can change for you. They may have someone to help you too or allow an extra person to come and help. I need some sleep tonight to ensure I stay up x
