To be annoyed DH sorted out my drawer?

I have a drawer where I keep random stuff, plus spare make up, condoms etc. Last night I went in there to get a condom and DH pipes up, they are on the left. When I looked he'd reorgainsed it all. It gave me the hump, but we were ahem busy so I didn't say anything till later. He can't understand why I'm annoyed as I don't keep secrets but I do like to have some privacy eyes up pile cream

Is it me?

Eh?? Does it have your name on it???

sorry, its next to my side of the bed, other drawers have my underwear etc in, he had his own man drawer!

I'd kill him. It's like your handbag, its private. Everyone has to have a little space that is just theirs, its essential.

YANBU My dp knows not to touch my drawer after he was 'helping' me look for something in my drawers and totally messed them up

HoHoHoNoYouDont Fri 05-Apr-13 14:18:28

YANBU That would really nark me.

buy a bolt and lock

Salmotrutta Fri 05-Apr-13 14:21:33

Kill him.

That is not on.

My dh did this and threw a lot of "rubbish" out. I was raging. He never did it again!

I wouldn't be happy about my DP, sorting my drawer out.

I wouldn't dream of sorting his out either.

Communal Drawers are fair game though, he is more of a sorter outer than me.

YANBU it is nice to have a bit of privacy.

I also have a bedside drawer but it hasn't been sorted out in years, it's full of crap but I still consider it personal. I am pretty sure there is nothing I need to hide in there but it's my space.

I also don't like it when DH uses my phone (iPhone, he has a basic phone) then browses around. I haven't done anything wrong or looked up anything dodgy but it still feels like snooping. DH is the most unlikely snooper there is but it feels like it is my private space.

So YANBU at all to be annoyed, I suspect thought that it wouldn't have occurred to DH to think of it like that rather than it being malicious.

I wouldn't be annoyed in the slightest, but then we don't have private drawers in our house, he goes in my handbag and I go in his briefcase. It would never occur to me that there was a drawer I couldn't go in in my own home.
I would consider it a non issue but each to their own.

beenhereayear Fri 05-Apr-13 14:54:40

I would be pleased if he voluntarily tidied out any drawer :D

usualsuspect Fri 05-Apr-13 14:55:10

I wouldn't care if he went into my drawer to look for something, I just wouldn't want him rearranging it.

It's not private.

freddiefrog Fri 05-Apr-13 14:59:50

I wouldn't like it either

I don't care if he's in there looking for something but it'd piss me off if he sorted it out and threw stuff away.

My drawer, my sweet wrappers grin

YADNBU and I say that with every fibre of my being. My DH goes through what I quietly think of as 'my' drawers like a possessed toddler when he's looking for things. Tampons and nail varnish and sewing kits and half empty bottles of body lotion fly about everywhere. I would never do this to what I think of as 'his' stuff. I don't think he has the same mental division - and a small, nauseated part of me has just thought that perhaps he does, actually, divide our stuff and his stuff up in the same way I do, but just thinks my stuff is meaningless crap, whereas his stuff is important. Shite.

At least your DH didn't rifle through your stuff, he sorted it. Here's hoping he didn't alphabetise your creams and lotions according to brand name and intended use. 'Anusol? Anus - at the top. Always? Vaginal - at the bottom.'

dribbleface Fri 05-Apr-13 16:17:48

grin purrpurr He's dyslexic or he might well of!

Have to say I got over it quickly, but why??!!! He needed my pedi egg foot thingy, which he can keep now!

dribbleface Fri 05-Apr-13 16:18:46

Mansview it has a child lock, may invest in a man lock!

dribbleface Fri 05-Apr-13 16:20:47

meant why rearrange, don't care if he just needs something but to line it all up in neat rows??

ImTooHecsyForYourParty Fri 05-Apr-13 17:59:24

I wouldn't care if he went in it, but I'd be adding a couple of baubles to this year's christmas tree if he reorganised it! grin

dadofnone Fri 05-Apr-13 18:01:40

It wouldn't occur to me to be narked at this but there again it wouldn't occur to DH to tidy a drawer!

SatsukiKusukabe Fri 05-Apr-13 18:02:29

I'd hate that. it not look organized to a casual observer .. but I know where everything is

SauvignonBlanche Fri 05-Apr-13 18:03:46

Leave the bastard!
DH did that to me once, I nearly killed him.

Lara2 Fri 05-Apr-13 18:53:45

I have 2 drawers, one by my bed and one in the kitchen. I'd kill anyone who rooted through them. It may look like mayhem when you open them, but I know where everything is. My mum's drawer was next to her bed and a year after she died, my dad still hasn't gone through it. sad

Newrowsees Sat 06-Apr-13 03:49:11

I'd give him a big hug. It would never occur to my DP to organise anything in our house, unasked. He also wouldn't have a clue what anything was, so he'd have to ask me about every item anyway. I'd be more impressed than annoyed if I were you! grin
