Okay....37 is getting on a bit but it's not like properly old. I can accept the following:
1. A few grey hairs
2. Some wrinkles
3. Harder to lose weight.

However, I am mightly fucked off at the following and ask you mumsnetters out there if this is normal?

1. My PMT is getting worse. I'm really angry and irritated by everyone/everything for at least 5 days per month.

2.Seriously, I am sweatier and my sweat smells much worse than it used to. I really stink after hard exercise (and I'm sure I used to be able to go running and then to the pub afterwards without going home first)

3. Hairs - where have they come from? They are everywhere. Chin and pubes are the worst. It's grim and I can't keep on top of them.

Is this the downward slide to stinking of piss and having a beard? FFS, I'm only 37.

Well I'm 44, greying a bit, but rarely wear deodorant & don't smell, don't groan when I get up, have periods regularly once a month (ok, a tidal for wave the first 2 days & then barely a trickle).

Pubic hair still in the pubic region & only 1 rogue facial hair. I don't have bingo wings & I'm pretty much the same shape as I was 25 yrs ago.

We need to compare note grin

Im 37 and I sometimes think that a bikini wax would need to start at my ankles and end somewhere around my eyebrows!

determinedma Thu 04-Apr-13 21:26:29

Don't have the smelly thing.'Use Mitchum deoderant and have done for about 30 years. Swear by the stuff.

Norks, even

Add me to the list. Funny how no one ever told me about these fetching symptoms of getting a bit older (feel betrayed by my much older sister!).

Agnus castus has helped the PMT a lot. Prozac used to do the trick, but that wore off after a couple of years. Am seriously hoping the same won't happen with the AC.

TwllBach Thu 04-Apr-13 21:41:13

I have:

Eyebrows that reach my hair line
A fucking moustache
A huge fucking beard
Nipple hair
Hair on the backs of my fingers and toes
Hair in a line from my belly button to public hair
Pubic hair that spreads to furry patches on my thighs.

I'm 25.

Also, I smell down there even after a day with no physical exertion. And my tits sweat <weeps>

CockyFox Thu 04-Apr-13 22:01:39

Agnus castus is the only thing that stopsme feeling and looking like an angry bear rather than a woman

Some of this makes me feel so much better !
I'm 51 and don't have many of the problems listed above, in particular no grey hair (anywhere) yet.

Hopefully I can reassure some of you that certain areas do improve post-menopause.

I have LESS, not more, body hair (never had much in first place, but less plucking/shaving required now)

I need so much less sleep now.

Yes, I've put on weight, but the first place it went on was my bust, so have a cleavage for the first time in my life.

No periods is brilliant.

But I do get the creaky knees and my eyesight getting worse.

MrsKoala Thu 04-Apr-13 22:10:57

I must have been very old before my time because i have had some grey hair (and pubes) since my teens, chin hairs since about 22 (they are getting worse every year), did my knees in at 18 and back at 23 so i crack, creak, click and can barely get out of bed - on bad days i piss standing up or in an old jug because i can't get off the toilet. My PMT has got worse since periods returned 2 months ago (after having DS). I'm 36 now and i don't know how much worse it can get!

Silver lining tho is i don't sweat - never have, never used deodorant. <fist pumps the air>

apostropheuse Thu 04-Apr-13 22:21:05

I went through early menopause (last period at 38) and it got so much better after that! Well, the hairy stuff did, and obviously no PMT. Best of all, no periods. Bliss.

However, the grey hair just gets worse, as does the sagginess of face and body. The skin definitely gets drier.

Strangely though I don't give a damn - I guess it's grumpy old women syndrome setting in. I really don't care about shit like that any more!
I also find myself unable to bite my tongue, sometimes what comes out of my mouth doesn't have enough time en route from my brain to be stopped.

I feel quite liberated really.

5Foot5 Thu 04-Apr-13 22:25:16

The worst bit is that the chin hairs have got more prolific just when the eyesight is getting much worse so I have to put my reading glasses on and use the magnifying side of the bathroom mirror (I remember being so young that I genuinely wondered why anyone would want a mirror like that) to really see and get to grip with the buggers, even though I know they are there because I can feel them.

SisterMonicaJoan Thu 04-Apr-13 22:25:17

I'm 37.

Best light I can get to tweeze my eyebrows chin is in the car (DH driving, not me!) so find myself gurning at passers by at traffic lights!

Definitely more sweaty (also more in one armpit too missbetsey wtf??)

We're such an attractive bunch on MN grin!!

jinsymaw Thu 04-Apr-13 22:25:26

Every time I bend down or stand up, I murmur, oh my back. 39 and I'm sprouting under my chin. Used perspirex from boots and now I don't smell like an old onion. Err, yuck, sorry.

PoppyWearer Thu 04-Apr-13 22:26:20

I am 37yo and appear to be growing a beard. Am experimenting with various hair-removal methods now.

DameSaggarmakersbottomknocker Thu 04-Apr-13 22:27:01

I'm almost 50 and like apostropheuse I'm past caring.

I can tell folk to fuck off and blame it on the menopause.

carabos Thu 04-Apr-13 22:30:16

I'm 50 this year. The teeth (god the snaggly witchy teeth) the knees (ow ow ow) and the smelly sweat! WTAF has happened there? It's only been very recent, but I stink shock.

apostropheuse Thu 04-Apr-13 22:30:35

damesaggarmaker grin

I'm 51 now so I've had that privilege for a few years now.

apostropheuse Thu 04-Apr-13 22:33:09

All you sweaty bettys really should try Mitchum anti-perspirant deodorant. It truly is wonderful stuff.

daffsarecomingup Thu 04-Apr-13 22:35:22

i didn't know that being more smelly was a sign of ageing! have noticed that recently.
yes to rogue throat hairs.
yes to pubes slowly spreading.

Am not too bothered by it all, though. Seeing as the alternative is to die young, I consider it all a small price to pay smile

SomeBear Thu 04-Apr-13 22:35:34

I am 37 next month and have been nodding to all these. The random hairs have increased - always had one on my right nipple and another on my belly button but now find them on the backs of my thighs and preparing to go swimming involves a set of hedgecutters. I keep forgetting I can't kneel on the floor any more and when I get up my knees crack.

Went jeans shopping today with DH and realised I have Let Myself Go when I caught sight of the saggy old woman in the mirror.

maxpower Thu 04-Apr-13 22:39:08

Despite suffering some of these afflictions myself I'm pmsl at this thread. Thanks ladies. (37 on Monday btw)

hortensemancini Thu 04-Apr-13 22:45:38

I'm 39 and my PMT is now so bad it's a very good job I don't have a nuclear capability, or else the UN would abandon North Korea like that and camp out at my place every month.

And i'm glad someone mentioned the sweat thing. Spent nearly all of the last gym session feeling sorry for the person in front of me who didn't realise how honking their BO was, before realising it was actually me.

Also, I think I have chilblains. Is that possible? Or is that just in Enid Blyton?

Schnarkle Thu 04-Apr-13 22:50:25

I'm one step from going on a gin diet. I have all the above joys too. sad

Schnarkle Thu 04-Apr-13 22:51:11

oh and I'm 38.

I'm 37 and look amezzin <vodka goggles on> but I keep finding white hairs in my fanjo. shock
