Bloody mooncup won't work. I keep leaking everywhere. Well, everywhere may be a slight exaggeration, but Day 1 was fine (except I couldn't get the bloody thing out. Will draw a veil over the blood-splashed-on-ankle episode). Day 2 I was working, so reverted to tampons. Day 3 I started to leak a bit - put a pad in as well and it was definitely needed. It was much easier to get out, though - maybe I'm positioning it weirdly now? Day 4 I was out all day, so used tampons again. Today, Day 5, I used tampons to begin with and then put the mooncup in when I got home. Less than an hour later I realised I was a bit damp and nipped to the loo - blood everywhere. [busad] I want the mooncup to work! I have a septic tank and it was mortifying when the mannie came to rod it and told me off for putting tampons down the loo! Plus, I read so much about it being easy and convenient and so on.

In other MN fails recently, I measured myself a la the bra threads and bought a 28H bra yesterday. It is agonisingly painful and I'm going to have to take it back. I am useless at all MN-endorsed things!

Oh no, poor you! Two things that might help:

My mooncup leaked the first few times I used it, and then I realised that I was pushing it too high up and not getting it to pop open. Easily remedied by pulling down slightly on the bottom of the cup and spinning it 2-3 times.
Even if the mooncup isn't the right cup for you, there are so many alternatives now that you are sure to find a perfect fit somewhere. I really recommend the Lunette cup - it pings open more easily and is stiffer, and I think these two factors explain why mine Never leaks on me whereas my mooncup was never 100% reliable. The website www.femininewear.co.uk is good, and Teresa (the owner) is really helpful if you call/email/facebook her any questions.

(PS - If you do try a Lunette, I recommend the larger/stiffer one. Lunette doesn't size their cups by "pre/post childbirth", they take lots of factors into account and the larger/stiffer cup is more leak-proof IME.)

Thank you, Nom - I'll try the spinning thing. Maybe tomorrow when I feel less cross! After paying £20 for it I want to make sure I try everything to get it to work. [tight emoticon]

I leak every month without fail.

For 3 days of my cycle I have to wear a pad and empty MC every 1-2 hours.

For 2 nights of that cycle, I empty it at 11pm and 4am, but totally flood between 11-4 and flood again 4-7.

Thats through the MC, super maternity pads through my clothes, through all my bedding.

Is a fucking pain in the arse but I hate tampons.

Why would anyone do this? The blood is supposed to leave your body - just use a pad, wrap it up and put it in the bin.

Or do what i do and have a mirena coil and no periods

That sounds like a total pain, Ducks. Someone on another thread recently mentioned period-reducing drugs which had helped her - have you come across those?

Lucy, I don't like pads - that horrible feeling of blood trickling up your bum when you lie on your back, eww! I don't really object to tampons at all, but my septic tank does. I don't know much about the coil at all, but given I want to try for another baby in the next 6 months it's not something that'd be right for me just now. I would love to have no periods, though - this is only my second period since DD was born (she's now 1) and it was bliss!

My underbust measurement is 29 inches, my overbust is 39. According to Sorrel, SC etc on those threads a 28H should have been comfy. It isn't.

Did you measure recently? Could be skewed due to water retention perhaps?

I think I ended up one or two measurements out from Sorrel's estimate which I put down to errors is measuring on my part. Think she suggested G and I ended up a H usually, bt it does depend on brand (some G cups fit fine).

Surely, if you like them, you can use tampons but just bin instead of flush? I'm just returning to the joys of periods after a long break, hate tampons, hate pads, considering mooncup or similar but not entirely sure how it all works...

Too was it Ponstan (menafamic acid)?

Ive had that before, albiet 15 years ago, and that didnt help. They also gave me enormous horse sized pills but that didnt help either.

Im breast feeding at the moment so I doubt I could take anything.

Im not to bothered to be honest, the only bit that bothers me is trying as I might, I cant seem to prevent it staining my lovely duvet covers .
