No, tickets aren't too easy to get. This year's glastonbury sold out last October, so you'd have to look at buying a ticket for next year.

The toilets are similar to most other festivals I think. Some are gross. Some are okay. It's a lottery!

I've never been with kids. I think it'd be quite stressful but people do it, so it can't be that bad!

You have to register in September and then buy in October the year before. They sell out really quickly

There are lots of smaller more suitable for kids festivals you can go to.

Latitude, Womad... lots of other festivals you can go to which are family friendly.

Have a look at Camp Bestival. Several friend have been and really recommended it. Would love to go but dh made redundant a few weeks ago, but fingers crossed.

Yes I know more festivals, have always wanted to go to glasto but never been 100% keen or sure how to get tickets.

I adore the acts this year and I think the rolling stones playing there will be a key life moment.
I will never forget seeing to my surprise david bowie on stage there, in the most amazing scenery, sun coming down, stunning set, and they kept cutting off....DAVID BOWIE...to go to a fucking pipe player in some shitty hay barn tent!!!

This is my year....but seems not. Sad.

I was just wondering, on teh DC front, what its like., do they cater for DC, is it safe, I get the impression it isnt but then others have told me they have seen Dc there...

End of the Road is nice, good music, loads of kids, plenty of things to do. Glastonbury would IME be hard work with young kids.

I've been to Latitude with small children and a group of friends and it is definitely family friendly - to a point. Personally, though, I found it pretty stressful and exhausting trying to keep an eye on them amidst the tents and crowds, navigating hygiene issues with festival loos etc. Also, all the bands I really wanted to see were on fairly late, so I ended up taking turns with dh to stay in the tent with the dc... I certainly wouldn't consider a bigger festival.

ummm....that doesnt sound great current....I can also imagine panicking about the crowds, and I wouldnt get close to the action would I.

But isn't that soo boring, I am positive people do take their DC....

It would be fab for DD to taste the stones too! At her tender age, she can say she saw them live!

Have you looked at the Glastonbury festival website? Where the info about tickets etc would be? In previous years they've had "returns" sales but I guess it's so popular now this might not be a given.

MyDarlingClementine · 27/03/2013 21:32

Yes, but can't get much info on babies and suitability.

You need to register all people going with a picture first here this gets you a number. Tickets sold out in oct last year, but those people pay their balances this week. People may have changed minds etc so all returned tickets go back in the pot for resale on 21st April. You need to be up early with as many people as possible hitting refresh on the web page.

Glasto is v family friendly, kids fields, family camping, little carts to pull them in etc, but personally I wouldn't if you want to be 'amongst it'.

Genuine q, if you've always wanted to go, why have you never googled etc? It's all over news when tic on sale??

Someone gave birth on site in 2010, got checked at hospital and came back with baby. Loads of kids there.

The kids field is absolutely amaxing plus they have loads of baby facilities, nappy change etc.
But it is a massive site, loads of walking, just getting your stuff from the car to the camping fields takes hours by the time you have queued etc.
Get on their webpage!

If its the Stone's that you're most bothered about, as they're headlining they want be on stage until late. Will your children be ok being up in the crowds until say midnight at least to watch them?

I was there in 2010 and actually saw that woman who gave birth with her newborn baby. It was 30 degrees and hardly any shade. It depends what you like doing at festivals. If you like to drink and relax and have a good time, it's shit taking children imo. I took ds when he was 2, but won't be taking him to any others until he's a lot older.
Glastonbury has a really good kids' field though, if you're determined to take them. We camped in the family field, and could still hear the music going on late into the night and early morning. It is just so loud, you must be able to hear it for miles around. The ground was vibrating!

Because Coo, the cost, no one wanted to go with me, the only time I would have moved heaven to get there was when David Bowie was playing but I somehow missed that.

I was gutted.

I am quite old now, and seeing pics of major mud wash outs year in year out kinda put me off.

I also find the loo situation difficult.

BUT i HAVE JUST seen rolling stones playing, steve winwood, etc, legends - I want to go!!

I wont be drinking, and my Dh doesn't drink, he also is not mad about the stones, the baby would be ok I think she slept through major fireworks, not sure about the loud music, and DD would be ok too, she has stayed up for other things.

however dh, could always stay with them he likes smashing pumpkins so I cold take them then.

is it safe, i wouldn't want to be stressed about anything else.

i wouldn't go again to glasto, its alot of money we don't have but its a once in a life time I think....

I took my 4.5month old a few years back and plan to take my 3 yo and 18mo this time.

I recommend ear protectors for v young ones and get a double bike trailer to wheel the kids around in rather than a buggy. Kit it out with soft furry lining, cushions and blankets so they can fall asleep in the evening. As well as the kids' field there's the Green Kids' field and basically the whole place is a playground. It's amazing.

RunningAgain · 27/03/2013 21:53

Yeah your kids would sleep through it, they would be tired out after all the walking and excitement! If you don't drink that would make it better with kids I think.

I have been 7 times. I would not take children.
There are specific fields for them but that is away from the music.
If the mud is as bad as 2011 then you can't pull a cart/buggy through it.

If seems to be crazy mud or sunshine with absolutely no shade.

I have friends who I have been there with who took children and babies and it was a total waste of the ticket money as they didn't get to enj

Stangirl, that sounds so lovely, the trailer thing!

I am so excited!

are the loos any better in the family area?

also this sounds really really stupid, but are tents safe in terms of drunken pepole falling onto them>the seem so tightly packed together,
