AIBU?

To be really pissed off with my sister?

We started weight loss classes at the same time. She has lost twice as much weight as me. ( she is two stone heavier than me) at first I was really pleased for her. But now when I ask her how she thinks she has done each week, she rattles off loads of food she has eaten, while I have been very saintly! She has also just started taking thyroxine for her under active thyroid, so I said that this is probably helping. She has just come from a check up to announce that she is losing weight naturally not from the drugs. I love my sis and want her to do well and her health issues to improve, but the nasty little side of me is a green eyed starving monster! Just writing this has helped me get it off my chest. Rant over.

She is heavier than you. She will lose weight more quickly. Give her a break.

Is she maybe doing more exercise than you too?

It must be frustrating but as long as you are losing you should be fine.
Slow and steady win the race!!!!
And it's easier to maintain if you lose it a bit slower.
You shouldn't be starving though!!!
Keep it going and good luck.

Sounds liek your sister is doing really well, try not to be too jealous!

Presumably as you have less to loose than her you aren't going to loose it as quickly.

Is she doing more exersise?

Annoying isn't it.

Maybe she is eating better foods than you?
Maybe you are not eating enough
Maybe you are not being as good as you think you are.

Millions of reasons but don't forget she is heavier than you so it will be easier for her...............for now :)

Go on MFP, it is brilliant for weight loss and you will be aware of exactly how many extra calories you are consuming through the odd bit of picking here and there.

I think the heavier you are the greater and faster the initial weight loss is. The rate of weight loss will slow down. Anyhoo whether it's through diet or medication good on her AND you for doing it.

She has more to lose, those with the most to lose do tend to lose weight the fastest at first. Losing a pound when you are 4 stone over weight is easy, losing a pound when you are only 4 pounds overweight is a lot harder.

Try to build some more exercise into your lifestyle.

Eh?

Surely the underactive thyroid is mainly the cause of her weight gain?

you sound like my sister. I have 50 pounds to lose she has 10-15. I WILL lose more weight than her on the same diet because its easier to lose the more you have to lose. I would be upset if I thought she was annoyed by that!.

Dh has lost more weight than me. I'm finding it hard too not to be jealous.

She does very little, but then so do I Blush. I try and walk though, so she said she walks to the bus stop. To which I laughed and said you could roll out of bed and be at the bus stop ( true)

I know it's better if it comes off slow, it's just disheartening each week when I've only lost half a pound! At least it's going the right way.

If she is heavier she will lose more. I doubt very much that the thyroxin isn't helping as well.

I haven't showed I'm annoyed with her, or tried not too! The other thing is she eats crap food. No fruit or veg, and up to dieting, her salad crisper in her fridge had her choc bars!

It's a good point at her losing quicker as she is heavier. I still have a lot to lose ( 4 stone to my target, but I haven't weighed 9 st since I was 16!) I lost some weight before I had my dd14, and it was slow and steady then.

It sounds like the reason for her being overweight is underactive thyroid. Sound like you are jealous of this. Hmm

No, not jealous of under active thyroid, I know that is serious. She also has high bp, so losing the weight will really help her. I guess it's just a sibling rivalry thing!

I would be jealous too Blush

I know that's not a nice emotion to have, but I can't help be jealous of her perfect size 10 figure when I'm pushing an 18! I do know it's my own fault, but I can't help it!
