Will dh be back in time to take care of dc? It is irresponsible to be drunk in charge of a dc.

nah, I'd go for it. Do you think you will be able to stand to let the internet man in though? I know one glass and I'm all over the shop

It's only irresponsible if you admit to it. 12 can look after themselves

What happens if your DD gets stranded in the snow? Who will go out and get her if you are three sheets to the wind?

send ds to the chippy on his way home - you'll be gasping for a kebab by then anyway

Waiting in for anyone is enough to drive anyone to drink YANBU

Well, really?

You are supposed to be a responsible parent.

What if something happened? What if your garden shed caught fire and you were too drunk to notice?
And your poor DCs were suffering from malnutrition from the freezer food and didnt have the strength to come and tell you?

I think you should be careful. A friend of mine did this and ended up in a Latvian jail (long story)

Think on.

Do it. Have a tequila chaser with every glass. Hell, it's Tuesday.

FFS Hullygully you can't leave that story there. Spill all, so Madame has something to laugh at when she's tipsy.

I don't think wanting to get drunk, alone, mid-afternoon and with your DS who you are sole charge of due back soon is a great sign.

Backtobedlam · 26/03/2013 15:48

No, don't do it...I'll be insanely jealous.

Report
Hullygully · 26/03/2013 15:49

No, do you have other problems, MadameDefarge?

Report
TeWiSavesTheDay · 26/03/2013 15:49

PS if you only want 1 glass, then of course, have at it.

The fun (and pisshead) side of me says Go For It! However, the sensible side of me says 'stay sober if having a strange man in your home'

But that's just me.

OK, confusion here as to which replies to this thread (and to the spoons ones) are genuine and which are slightly tongue in cheek

How do you know the internet man is a man?

YABVU if you are making assumptions about gender & geekishness.

And, how are you posting this if there is something wrong with your internet??

he loves shopping too! obviously i dont ask jim to get grog cos that would be, however convenient, illegal. though knowing our corner shop they wouldnt blink an eye and probably throw in some golden virginia too. (god, now gasping for a fag...if I hung out the window do you think ds would notice? he is dead anti smloking.) internet man still not here. sigh.

I think you should ask yourself if you have a drink problem if you want to be drinking alone in the middle of the day. Do you often do this?

FunnysInLaJardin · 26/03/2013 15:54

oh come on, it's only a couple of glasses of fizz and the OP's DS is 12, not 5

People who come to mend your internet are always men. I've never had a woman turn up to do anything involving a van and tools once in my whole life. --ok once-

I think you should enjoy your drinks after internet man gone!relax then and enjoy! How does feeling like a drink on a rare day off make people think you've a drink problem. ... ? Enjoy
