Waiting in for six hours. ds 12 not due back till six. plently of freezer food if i cant be arsed to cook...does that make me a bad mother?

Hullygully Tue 26-Mar-13 15:38:13

Will dh be back in time to take care of dc? It is irresponsible to be drunk in charge of a dc.

FunnysInLaJardin Tue 26-Mar-13 15:39:28

nah, I'd go for it. Do you think you will be able to stand to let the internet man in though? I know one glass and I'm all over the shop

ginslinger Tue 26-Mar-13 15:40:13

It's only irresponsible if you admit to it. 12 can look after themselves

MadameDefarge Tue 26-Mar-13 15:40:59

no dh thank the lord. but ds pretty independent. makes both of us brekkie and does the laundy too. loves washing machines. strange boy!

TheRealFellatio Tue 26-Mar-13 15:41:04

What happens if your DD gets stranded in the snow? Who will go out and get her if you are three sheets to the wind?

abzfrom5ive Tue 26-Mar-13 15:41:30

send ds to the chippy on his way home - you'll be gasping for a kebab by then anyway

EostreChaoticResurrEggtion Tue 26-Mar-13 15:41:46

Waiting in for anyone is enough to drive anyone to drink YANBU

TantrumsAndBalloons Tue 26-Mar-13 15:43:02

Well, really?

You are supposed to be a responsible parent.

What if something happened? What if your garden shed caught fire and you were too drunk to notice?
And your poor DCs were suffering from malnutrition from the freezer food and didnt have the strength to come and tell you?

Hullygully Tue 26-Mar-13 15:45:11

I think you should be careful. A friend of mine did this and ended up in a Latvian jail (long story)

Think on.

juanca Tue 26-Mar-13 15:46:16

Do it. Have a tequila chaser with every glass. Hell, it's Tuesday.

EasterHoliday Tue 26-Mar-13 15:46:45

FFS Hullygully you can't leave that story there. Spill all, so Madame has something to laugh at when she's tipsy.

TeWiSavesTheDay Tue 26-Mar-13 15:48:19

I don't think wanting to get drunk, alone, mid-afternoon and with your DS who you are sole charge of due back soon is a great sign.

Backtobedlam Tue 26-Mar-13 15:48:20

No, don't do it...I'll be insanely jealous.

Hullygully Tue 26-Mar-13 15:49:13

No, do you have other problems, MadameDefarge?

TeWiSavesTheDay Tue 26-Mar-13 15:49:34

PS if you only want 1 glass, then of course, have at it.

HoHoHoNoYouDont Tue 26-Mar-13 15:50:32

The fun (and pisshead) side of me says Go For It! However, the sensible side of me says 'stay sober if having a strange man in your home'

But that's just me.

StealthPolarBear Tue 26-Mar-13 15:51:02

OK, confusion here as to which replies to this thread (and to the spoons ones) are genuine and which are slightly tongue in cheek

magimedi Tue 26-Mar-13 15:51:36

How do you know the internet man is a man?

YABVU if you are making assumptions about gender & geekishness.

And, how are you posting this if there is something wrong with your internet??

MadameDefarge Tue 26-Mar-13 15:52:48

he loves shopping too! obviously i dont ask jim to get grog cos that would be, however convenient, illegal. though knowing our corner shop they wouldnt blink an eye and probably throw in some golden virginia too. (god, now gasping for a fag...if I hung out the window do you think ds would notice? he is dead anti smloking.) internet man still not here. sigh.

TheRealFellatio Tue 26-Mar-13 15:53:57

I think you should ask yourself if you have a drink problem if you want to be drinking alone in the middle of the day. Do you often do this?

FunnysInLaJardin Tue 26-Mar-13 15:54:25

oh come on, it's only a couple of glasses of fizz and the OP's DS is 12, not 5

TheRealFellatio Tue 26-Mar-13 15:54:27

Phone probably Magi

TheRealFellatio Tue 26-Mar-13 15:55:54

People who come to mend your internet are always men. I've never had a woman turn up to do anything involving a van and tools once in my whole life. --ok once-

ll31 Tue 26-Mar-13 15:58:25

I think you should enjoy your drinks after internet man gone!relax then and enjoy! How does feeling like a drink on a rare day off make people think you've a drink problem. ... ? Enjoy
