AIBU?

To expect Boris Johnson to answer a bloody question

PenelopePisstop · 24/03/2013 09:48

Anyone just watched him on the Andrew Marr show? Not only did he not answer the "do you want to be prime minister? " question, he didn't answer one question. The interviewer just moved on to the next question - annoying.

Hang on. Let me make sure I understand this.

You expect boris. Boris Johnson. A politician. Boris Johnson the politician. To answer a question? An actual question? you expect a politician to respond to a direct question with a direct and relevant response to that specific question?

Welcome to planet earth. If you would care to follow me, I shall take you to my leader...

It was heavily trailed during the week - perhaps that's why it was cut out today, as it had been shown so many times during the week?

He said that it it came out of the back of the scrum, he'd run with it. But he didn't expect that to happen. And the rugby metaphor does suggest that he's not going to be the one that pushes it to happen. But he did indicate that that if the right vacancy occurred at the right time, he'd be up for going for it.

Holly. you are no longer allowed to post on mumsnet. go to your room and stay there until you learn that it is unacceptable to subject people to such vile mental pictures.

I LOVE Boris - I actually do think he is far more frank than any other politican - he did answer MOST questions :)

YABU

Mair's savaging a la Paxman was out of order. I have postd my own AIBU on this 4 threads down ( at time of writing.)

The questions were irrelevant and going over stuff from years ago- who wants to hear all that again.

I thought Mair went too far when he accused Boris of bieng ' pretty nasty stuff'.

So I though Boris had been ambushed- he said he had come on to talk about the budget- and IMO he was right to avoid old issues.

Yuck. I cant think of a single politician I'd want to tie to a bed......

Other than to just leave them there.

He is a little tosser IMO and supports David Cameron which lowers my view of him even more. He has no idea (like most politicians) about the reality of day to day living and he needs a fucking haircut and a slap on the backside. Twat.

how can he say the truth?? that would undermine Cameron wouldn't it? of course he wants to become pm.! any politician with a minimum of ambition wants that. it's a non-question, really.

Or cover them with honey and let a bear loose in the room, follyfoot...

It did seem as if the Po were trying to use a one off Lark amongst consenting adults to damn him forever.

Scotty- he says he supports Cam but if you paid more attention to politics you would know that they are really daggers drawn- Boris toes the party line when interviewed because he knows if anyone gets a sniff of back stabbing that's him done for.

Report
meditrina · 24/03/2013 10:04

Agree BagWoman - he'd relish the post. But he's making it pretty clear that he's not angling for it. He'll position himself so he rides a wave of genuine support.

He is cleverer than he looks, that's all I'm saying. He plays the village prat quite well and is known affectionately as a bit of a bumbling idiot, but he has an agenda like they all do.

Boris is a sex god. Need I say more?

Report
PenelopePisstop · 24/03/2013 10:08

Ha ha ImTooHecsy you're right. I was being very naive too expect him to actually provide a straightforward answer.

Why to the interviewers let them get away with it? They probably all in Cahoots are they? What's the point in interviewing - might as well just let 'em do a party speech to camera!

In fact, I want to cover him in baby oil then sprinkle marshmallows all over him and lick them off.

That would please me immensly

ScottyDoc - i was just coming on to post that he plays the part of the bumbling oaf very well, but the thought of him with any real power is terrifying.

Boris is incapable of answering any question that he doesn't feel gives him a good sound bite. He's such a media whore

On a slightly more serious note. He will be PM. He will oust Cameron. And Cameron knows it. The party knows it. But he won't be the while hall monkey though. He is a highly skilled and intelligent man - the lovable fool is a front he plays very well, everyone loves a buffoon, but that is the one thing he isn't.

He gets away with absolute blue murder that would sink any other politician without a trace. Even the general public have an 'aww, it's only Boris' with some of the things someone else would have to resign in disgrace for.

ALL politicians are media whores. it goes with the job. Surely that is obvious?

If you listen to any of them I'd be gobsmacked if any of them answered a question.

Boris is highly intelligent, has the common touch, and actually speaks bloody common sense most of the time. The bumbling persona is a guise- if you are taken in by it, then Boris has won!

It was clear today he was trying to avoid looking as if he was supporting UKIP which is why hsi views on immigration ect were tempered, should we say, so he didn't play into UKIP's hands.

I can't think of a single politician who answers a question, so fail to see why Boris Johnson should be the exception! At least he is funny with it.
