To be secretly pleased I had a post deleted?

Not going to say what as that would get me into trouble. I didn't actually think what I said was bad but I don't mind it has been deleted.

I've never had a post deleted before, I feel like a fully fledged member now smile

Is it wrong to be not so secretly pleased grin

So... If someone called me a 'poohead' (I've been called alot worse in my time) and the poster's comment got deleted, and I insisted that I wasn't in the slightest bit offended by being called that, could I assert a right to have the post 'undeleted' then? And if not, why not?

Atthewells Wed 20-Mar-13 17:37:35

Was the post you had deleted on the SIL and the book thread? If so then sorry, no kudos there. Every second post on that thread seems to have been deleted on the first few pages. Talk about a madhouse!

middleagedspread Wed 20-Mar-13 17:22:10

Thanks, TooYappy. Of course MNHQ can't tell what you're thinking, can they hmm?
On a similar subject, how do some people manage to spot trolls so easily?

Atthewells Wed 20-Mar-13 17:20:50

Sometimes if you've had a post deleted it can simply be because you answered a post that was offensive and had been deleted.

LadyBeagleEyes Wed 20-Mar-13 17:18:16

I've had a few posts deleted but I never, ever remember what I said.
I don't think I've ever been personally offensive though that seems to vary in the eyes of other posters and MNHQ.

TooYappy Wed 20-Mar-13 17:15:25

The classic line:

Oh fuck off

usually works Or:

You are just vile!

also works (personal attacks)

Are you a troll? or I do not believe a word of this OP. (troll hunting)

My worst/best was saying all abusive men should be taken to an island and blown up, this may have been okay as it's an opinion, but I typed it on an abusive mans thread.

Not that I would recommend it of course. Like is said, I have been very good since January.

Atthewells Wed 20-Mar-13 17:08:14

I remember a thread once where a poster was ranting at a couple of other posters about how they were rude and aggressive and no wonder some of their posts had been deleted and she personally was a very fair poster who had never ever had a post deleted, nope she had a very proud record of perfectly reasonable posts - seemingly unaware that several of her posts up thread had been red buttoned by MNHQ. grin

middleagedspread Wed 20-Mar-13 16:48:51

I'm reasonably new here, but secretly rather like the idea of having a deletion.
What do you have to do, smoke behind the bike shed?

idiot55 Wed 20-Mar-13 16:42:48

I had a message to say nemerous posts of mine had been reported and to behave!

only one of my posts could vaguely have ben reportable, really odd

Atthewells Wed 20-Mar-13 16:39:01

Only one post? Pah! I had a whole thread deleted once, under a different name.

I too don't understand the log out comment??

seriouscakeeater Wed 20-Mar-13 16:11:04

pocket why do u log out??.... I never do...

Feminine Wed 20-Mar-13 12:16:26

I've been deleted a few times.

Recently I told a mean spirited poster that I hoped she would step in dog shit later that day.

That got me removed! grin

RandallPinkFloyd Wed 20-Mar-13 11:31:40

Weapons grade cunt <<wheeeeeze>>

Snoopingforsoup Wed 20-Mar-13 11:31:23

I had a post deleted under another name too - I didn't realise it was a badge of honour. blows fingernails
I was being flippant, I was at the time waiting for a scan and I knew I was awaiting bad news!
It was a one liner I delivered which looking back probably was a bit offhand, but it wasn't hideous either! Not sure if any others have gone.
I wonder what the number is...though I'm not sure I'm a serial upsetter.

limitedperiodonly Wed 20-Mar-13 11:20:19

Being called a poo head can be just as distressing as being called a weapons grade cunt. Apparently.

lottie63 Wed 20-Mar-13 11:01:36

'Poo head'??! Good lord, is that all it takes these days? I didn't realise. Is there a list of words we can't use? I know! Let's draw one up! Right now. Just so we all know. It's bound to come in handy. That is, until the meanings of words change... which they do all the time...and 'poo head' s bound to function as a compliment sooner or later (like 'wicked' now means something cool)

Pigsmummy Wed 20-Mar-13 10:59:06

I have been on since January, can't wait to get a deletion or a telling off!

Rikalaily Wed 20-Mar-13 10:51:46

I had a post deleted yesterday too, just hope the OP read it before it went, I'm hoping it was her that reported it too grin

limitedperiodonly Wed 20-Mar-13 10:45:37

I was deleted the other week for calling someone a poo head.

I'm very mature like that.

aldiwhore Wed 20-Mar-13 10:15:15

I had a post deleted yesterday, and I'm glad it was as it wasn't particularly pleasant, and as soon as I posted it I was annoyed with myself for allowing another poster to rattle me so much.

YABU to be proud, but YANBU to be glad it's gone!!

Pocketchange Wed 20-Mar-13 10:07:56

seriouscake this is my 4 th incarnation. I now always remember to log out when I've posted a dodgy comment.

BaronessBomburst Wed 20-Mar-13 10:03:19

I've been deleted! I've been deleted! I"VE BEEN DELETED!

<dances cartwheels>
<clicks hip back into place>

Blimey, you don't have to say much to get deleted, do you? The words 'thoughtless', 'selfish' and 'insensitive' are pretty much par for the course on AIBU, non? grin

seriouscakeeater Wed 20-Mar-13 08:08:49

pocket twice I have been banned ...hangs head first time round , got cocky the second lol

seriouscakeeater Wed 20-Mar-13 08:06:32

Threads like this actually remind me AIBU can be a funny place! [Grin]
crash that was me too! Out raged I told dh who replied..." Good! Now can you get tea on were all starving!" [Wink]

BabsAndTheRu Wed 20-Mar-13 07:47:43

Pocket change

Look in AIBU at the thread about the SIL and a book. You'll see us all there, well only our names with deleted comment.
