than having your card decline...several times, due to lack of funds in front of a whole shop.ShockSadAngry

I was buying some pizza, drumsticks etc for a birthday tea for my DP I had to put everything back,Sad

I just want someone to really piss me off so I would be justified in hitting something/crying.

Is there anything more humiliating?

oh dear.... I could think of a few more humiliating things, like me dropping a bowl of soup on the head of a bald old man when I was a waitress, it was a posh do, and I was serving asparagus soup, and it just slipped out of my hand, and I spilled it on his head...... what can I say, I really feel for you, and I hope my anecdote has at least made you smile a bit...

taking your 4 year old to group speech theorpy, sitting down the floor to get started when you hear a rip.

you have two MASSIVE.. by massive i mean two fists size holes on your inner thighs, of your trousers,

i had no clue what to do, couldnt just up and leave with no explantion as its a course where you can be kicked off if you dont show up. the teacher was busy talking etc

i waited as long as possiable into to it before the teacher came round with paper work for next weeks session before i could talk to her.

could have cryed.

When I was about seven months pregnant I went to do a mahoossive shop, got to the till, had everything scanned and bagged and when I needed to pay, found that I could not remember any of my PINs. Two debit cards and a credit card and I couldn't pay with any of them. I had to go collect DH from his footie match and get him to pay. It would have been ok, except two of the cards got locked as well from me trying to remember the PINs. Blush

we've all been there, don't worry. It's crap when shitty things happen and you can't blame anyone though - like when it snows.

Sad op.
I've had that happen, and its horrible.
At high school my mum refused to buy me a new swimming costume as the one I had still had plenty of wear in it. Maybe it still fitted but it was light pink and had been through the wash so many times that the elastic was shot and it was, effectively see-through when wet.
In PE, we were doing life saving. PE teacher wanted to demonstrate to the whole class who to pull an unconscious person from the water. Being the smallest in the class, I was chosen to be the unconscious person. So when I was hauled out the water, I might as well have been wearing nothing as my swimming costume had gone transparent.
That was in 2nd year. It was still being mentioned in 6th year. In fact I'm cringing now.
More humiliating was that my DM did not believe me so I had to use the same costume till I outgrew it.

My jeans and knickers fell down in the supermarket the other day if that makes you feel any better

If the card thing ever happens to me I get very sniffy and say there must be something wrong with the machine or system :)

I bet it happens all the time and the cashier thinks nothing of it. In fact, it will have happened to them

Oh I have one to make you feel better. Went out with a group of mummies for a much needed lunch without toddlers, half way through the lunch I started to have some tummy pains, so after a short while i popped to the loo, when I got up there I realised my period had started very very heavily, and had leaked through my knickers and trousers, when I got back to my seat I realised that the white plastic chair was covered in it too Blush.

Nobody said anything but there is no way no one noticed. I was horrified, luckily as I have a small child I had wipes in my bag and managed to subtly clean it off whilst still sat there so that when I got up at the end of the meal it was clean.
Still makes me cringe now.

Poor you :(
It happens, don't worry. It's not the first time they've seen a declined card.
Princess Diana had her card declined on Clinique back in the day,or so I was told could be a complete fabrication
Have some Thanks
How's your ds catgirl?

its awful when that happens at checkout.

can I cheer you up by telling you about the night my used tampon appeared to fall out of me as I danced at the works christmas party?

I once had a tap on the shoulder in the fruit and veg aisle by a man handing me back the padding that had worked its way out of my bra.
It was still warm. The other tit remained large for the rest of my shop.

nobody needs to know it was an insufficient funds thing, my bank loves putting a random unannounced stop on my card when it suspects fraudulent activity - they could warn me, it happened on holiday and we had about ?100 for all of us for a week GRRR

anyway more to point, what will you do for the birthday supper instead? Can you borrow some money?

Report
Snoopingforsoup · 14/03/2013 15:10

Incidentally, it's happened to me at the till too. Once, my card was retained by the shop keeper - the bank had put a call out on it.
My DH was once ushered into a side room at Waitrose for a security check on his debit card (phone call from the bank). He said it was the room where the shoplifters have to go...random and weird.
Worry not OP - shop staff have seen much worse.

when it has happened to me at checkout I have very dramatically looked at card and said "oh what an idiot- I'm trying to use the card I cancelled last week because i thought I had lost it- what an idiot".

generally no-body cares- they are just happy that you have finished and they can get served- because people are generally selfish like that.

In the airport mydirty knickers from the night before fell out of my trouser leg in front of my group of friends, who howled.

I then put them in my handbag. And trying to check in and rumbling for my passport they popped out again!

I binned them.

UGH! Poor you! I have had that happen to. Once when I didn't have enough money but a couple of other times for no discernable reason. Agreed it is SO horrible and puts you in a really awkward, embarrassing situation. I am always embarrassing myself....for example, there was this really lecherous guy at our college that was always coming up behind people and grabbing their bums. Everyone hated it, so I saw him in the library and went up and did it to him laughing to give him a taste of his own medicine but he turned round and it was the wrong bloke, a complete stranger!!!!! Am cringing just thinking of it now!

I once took ds3 to a music and singing type work shop, he was a placid happy toddler normally but this day decided he wasn't going to sit still and listen, wriggling and shouting out. There were a number of other Parents there with their similar aged offspring

I wasn't sure what to do but decided to give him 5 minutes more to settle before we made our excuses and left, I didn't get 5 minutes! I was told by the group leader, as we sat in a circle on the floor, that ds3 was too distracting for her and she thought it best that we leave as it wasn't fair on everyone else.

You could hear a pin drop and my face was like Shock and Blush
She was entirely within her right of course as he was being tricky but I felt about 2 inches tall, I've never forgotten it and it was 10 years ago.

A bloody thong.

I have NEVER worn a thong since. It let me down.

The most embarrassing part was dancing but subvertively trying to kick it away.

the shame.

I'm fairly sure I can beat all of you...

Karate class. Snow white gi. Lots of menz. Lots of high kicking/legs apart stretching ( can anyone guess where I'm going with this?).

Hu-u-uge peri-menopausal, unexpected period.

Gotta love the gentlemanly nature of the menz though. Not one of them even batted an eyelid, let alone mentioned it.

Ah this thread has made me laugh.
Thanks everyone for sharing.
As for declining card, I'm sure every one of them behind you has had it happen to them at some time or another.
It it mortifying at the time but you aren't gonna see them again so no worries.
