AIBU?

To be at the end of my tether with DH

For being pulled in by shopping channels?

I've just had to talk him out of spending $97 on a workout DVD.

I have to make sure the TV never gets left on shopping channels because he gets taken in by EVERYTHING. Honestly, he's a salesman's wet dream. It's so frustrating because I know their sales techniques and know he's being fooled but he won't listen, he insists they're speaking the truth. Well of course they are, they all have the "scientific evidence".

I feel like eating my own head every time it happens.

AIBU??

Is he an idiot?

Depends really whether its his money or family money he's wasting really. In our house we divide the bills and give ourselves spending money. If my partner wants to waste all his spending money that's up to him - but it means he does without for the rest of the month.

To be fair those shopping channels are quite good and I bought a £65 workout DVD and have lost 23lb since New Year so not all a con.

It's house money for bills etc.

Yes cocky, I'm sure there's a few out there that work, but he falls for all of them. This was for a ripped stomach fgs. To have a six pack you need around a 6% body fat percentage. You can't get it just by training on your stomach. There's no point having stomach muscles if they're covered by a layer of flab!

Can you hide his credit card?

Make him wait a day and see if he still can't live without something?

He sounds very silly tbh.

He doesn't have a card, he just gets me to pay for it. If I say no it causes an argument and he makes out IABU.

My sister had a friend who earned 30 quid a week as a play leader and spent every Friday night watching the shopping channels and spending it on tat. Dsis quite liked her but thought she was mad.

Have you considered giving dh an allowance :-)

Cause an argument then. If the money isn't disposable income, tell him it is for bills. Sit him down, show him what goes out and what comes in.

Anything left, split down the middle even if it's £20.

He's a grown up. If you haven't got it, you can't spend it.

If it's wasting family money that is needed for other things then YANBU.

DH and I have our own 'frivolities' budget though (£20 a month so would have to save a while to get a $97 DVD Shock) so whatever we spend out of that isn't up for mocking. No matter how crappy DH's choice in scifi movies is :o

I've always wondered who was taken in my the obvious bullshit on shopping channels.

Does he also believe that local girls are online ready to chat? :o

Erm argument and save $97 ...I would go with the argument especially if it was my credit card.

goodtoes, not today, but about 2 months ago I managed to delay the purchase of Insanity, which he has subsequently forgotten (I hope).
