to think, I probably should have guessed that DD needed to dress up today.

Its dress up day for World Book day, and my DD has gone in, in uniform, it never even occurred to me to dress her up.

I did however click on World Book Day thread this morning.

DS2 has gone in with erm... Spongebob Pyjamas and didn't want to take a book to swap.

Thanks for the tip for next Friday, I wondered why I was being invited into his Class for tea and cake.

DD's school aren't dressing up. I nearly sent her in wearing a Snow White costume. Luckily I checked with a more organised fellow mum. YANBU.

Schools should tell you if they're dressing up. DCs nursery and school aren't.

Ours is tomorrow too!

DS is in sixth form and they have Rag week, so have been supposed to be in costume all week. He has come up with a different excuse each day for how wearing his normal clothes is a costume with the theme of the day.

Oh gawd, I did spot the (minuscule) piece of paper in time, prepared the pirate costume, then had DS freaking out this morning because he wasn't sure he wanted to dress up. We ended up having to put school, uniform in his bag just in case we'd got it wrong

It would have kind of been easier if we hadn't realised.

I have re-read my letter (found last last) and our is definitely today. Thank goodness. Ours were to be dressed as a character from a book. I guess my DS is from the Spongebob Book.

Ds2 is in jeans and t shirt. Carrying copy of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. He is Greg (I think)

LadyBigtoes I have had the child who insisted on going to school in school uniform before now, because she was sure Mum had got it wrong. Only to have a melt-down at school when she realised I hadn't. Fortunately we lived very close, so I went home and got her clothes so she could change.

Then spent 20 minutes myself in the Heads office in tears!

Tomorrow should be easier as: a) she is older and now knows she needs a costume. b) she is happy to just go through the dressing up stuff and make something up.

I had no idea. I also forgot to put her in a wig (for something that required silly hair - no idea what) last week. Too many things, lucky she's only wee, so doesn't notice.

Found out at the last minute (DD's only 5, so her first time). We had a go at Horrid Henry, but couldn't agree on a jumper, so she went as Moody Margaret. Her normal clothes, and she was planning to write out a label and stick it on herself. She sellotapes labels to herself on a semi-regular basis anyway.

We overslept this morning and forgot, DS is 10 though so in my defence he usually remembers stuff like that for me. He was going to be Wally (again) but phoned me from the bus to say he is 'a boy from the year 6 leavers yearbook' .

My goddaughter (who I take to school some days) went as Hermione today, basically in school uniform! So no need to worry, OP. OK, so she took a wand, dressed it up with a tie and had a type of black cloak to wear if need be, but she doesn't think she'll actually wear the cloak all day. So most of the day she'll be like your DD, in school uniform.
I thought she looked pretty good actually, with zero effort or expense from her parents. My type of costume!
