that it will be ready at your usual dinner time and not 10.30 - 11pm? Selfish arse.

DP told me he was cooking fish and rice for dinner but now can't do it until 10pm as he's watching football hmm I mentioned I was getting hungry at 7pm and he disappears into the kitchen saying he's getting the fish out of the fridge. I sit here waiting, he comes back in and starts watching football. How long will dinner be I ask. Oh I can't cook it yet, he says, football is on angry

BigGiantCowWithAKnockKnockTail Tue 05-Mar-13 20:48:51

You sound really nice. I'd love to cook for you sometime hmm

oldraver Tue 05-Mar-13 20:49:01

Need more info to be honest.

When my OH first starting doing dinner he frequently would leave it quite late as thats what he was used to, think start cooking after 9pm having not decided until half an hour before what he wanted and going to the shop for it. I did explain that I was hungry much earlier than that, no problem cooking for myself but 9/10pm was way too late. He now cooks at an earlier time

oldraver Tue 05-Mar-13 20:50:45

Well then go and cook it yourself then...surely you are not going to wait until later the footie has finished if you are hungry now

ClippedPhoenix Tue 05-Mar-13 20:51:36

Blimey, what on earth is going on in your house.

You're both as bad as each other huh? Or have you got more to tell?

YouTheCat Tue 05-Mar-13 20:51:41

So he's cooking but everything stops for the football?

YANBU If he says he's cooking then he should have done it before the football. It was a 7.45 kick off so plenty of time to get done before.

ImperialBlether Tue 05-Mar-13 20:54:20

Why are they as bad as each other? He's to blame, expecting her to wait until bedtime for her dinner. Why is she to blame?

thepinkeasterbunny Tue 05-Mar-13 20:55:55

YANBU. He should have had it ready beforehand or warned you it wouldn't be until after.

have you tried getting sky piped into the telly in the kitchen?

TBH fish should cook at half time and be ready to be served. I really dont see why he's making a meal of it.

pixi2 Tue 05-Mar-13 20:58:53

Just grab something and go to bed? Let him know its not on. Learn from this time and ask him to do it before football or during half time next time.

BTW, I fully expect something to come from the kitchen when DH says he's cooking dinner but it gets delivered to our door. I'm not supposed to know though and he puts the takeaway onto plates.

I really dont see why he's making a meal of it.

LadyPessaryPam Tue 05-Mar-13 22:23:13

Make yourself a sandwich and then go to bed.

ClippedPhoenix Tue 05-Mar-13 22:26:19

I dont get the sitting here waiting aspect of this to be honest. Why would you sit there waiting? it just sounds like an odd dynamic.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea Tue 05-Mar-13 22:27:35

But it's FOOTBALL for the love of Bill Shankley's socks. How can anyone be expected to do anything NORMAL when FOOTBALL is on. hmm

YANBU at all. But don't sulk, just get on with it.

Tell him to make it for you tomorrow instead and make yourself something quick tonight. I wouldn't be sitting there hungry and waiting for him to make my dinner knowing it would be hours yet.

midastouch Tue 05-Mar-13 22:28:35

I wouldnt have sat waiting id have made my own and not for him

aldiwhore Tue 05-Mar-13 22:29:38

When my DH cooks, or begins to, I immediately make myself a sandwich, because I KNOW it just won't be ready until about 11pm... it's worth waiting for though.

For a midweek 'sustinence' meal, that would not be acceptable, I'd cook myself and not make him any.

YANBU, but you know YABU for waiting and waiting, and waiting, and waiting... just go fix it yourself and omit him, he's obviously not hungry after all wink

As for football! I frigging hate it with a passion. But I adore Mr Selfridge, Call the Midwife and Beverly Hills Housewives grin Im rather bereft that it's the end of their season.

bouncingorange Tue 05-Mar-13 22:52:13

I didn't wait for him. I cooked pasta for myself. He just made himself a sandwich so I guess he's not cooking now.

ClippedPhoenix Tue 05-Mar-13 23:04:51

I don't really like him OP to be honest. Your opening post sounded as if you were almost becoming like him to counteract his shit. Don't do that.
